  1. Emm says:

    Really? Condor gets coverage here?

  2. Johnny B says:

I’ve tested some Condor MOLLE gear, and have had no complaints.

  3. Old Paratrooper says:

I don’t think soldier systems owes Condor the time of day. The problem with them is that they rip off everybody.

  4. maresdesign says:

“Three-Day-Assault Pack” a perfect copy (knock-off) of the original BFM I designed for CamelBak some years ago.

  5. Administrator says:

I figured someone would notice that.

  6. SIGINT says:

Nice. ATACS will be a whole lot easier to find. Condor does a good job with their Multicam

  7. Armando says:

The one the big things i hate about condor is the ripoff of designs. When you put a condor 3 day assault pack and camelbak orignal BFM the difference is huge! Camelbak ones are made way more. there were too many times while i was deployed that i show guys try to cut corners by buying the condor products rather than the origanl and it just fail on them during the deployment. Also i hate how thier multicam gear has cloth pal webbing rather than nylon. It rips too often but in the end you get what you pay for.

  8. Armando says:

Camelbak ones are made more durable*

  9. Disappointed says:

This is total bullshit. First 5.11 and now these douchebags. You suck.

  10. Poncho says:

It’s news? Does that mean you consider the National Inquirer a source for reporting news too? Condor products are not something I consider worth mentioning and am quite surprised to see it mentioned here for all the reasons others have already stated. I read this blog for its ability to filter the crap like Condor out and provide insight on quality gear, not cheap ripoffs. Whats next, airsoft China knockoffs because its news? You need to do an azimuth check and get back on course.

  11. SIGINT says:

Cloth PAL webbing? Wrong. Condor is a licensed Multicam manufacturer. Every drop of material featuring the Multicam pattern is 1000 DENIER CORDURA which is 100% nylon content and the strongest you can get. This applies to their webbing as well.

If anything, they are one of the few manufacturers that don’t skimp on the webbing and resort to lower grade single color nylon.

  12. Mikey ohhh says:

Ha! Soon as I saw Condor, I knew the gear snobs would be hatin’! Never used Condor but I’ve heard they’ve cleaned up their quality in the last year or so. Interested to know if they’re worth looking into.

  13. Oxide says:

Stop hating on Condor, they have improved their gear.

  14. Administrator says:

It is important to note that there are a variety of readers of SSD. Our industry readers use us as a barometer for trends. When new materials or camouflage patterns emerge we often field queries from industry on where we see such technologies going and whether or not they should adopt them. A-TACS has been one such pattern that has raised a lot of interest. By posting an article that Condor has adopted the pattern, it telegraphs to industry readers that it is moving from specialist manufacturers to a pattern that will be much more widely available. This will help industry in their decision making process.

For those of you who think that we “suck”, perhaps your ire is directed at the wrong target. Don’t shoot the messenger.

  15. Mtnboy says:

I don’t understand why a company that steals legitimate companies designs from companies like TAD gear and Camelbak gets any type of publicity on a site like this. Condor makes shitty products on par with the reproduction purses sold at flea markets.

I know plenty of Joes willing to buy their products. A guy buys a ten dollar drop leg holster and you tell him it’s going to fall apart soon. He says oh well I’ll just get a new one when that happens. Dumbass Joes don’t even think about whats going to happen when they need that piece of gear to work. I’m glad I’m out now because if I was still in, I’d be telling my soldiers that junk gear is not allowed in my team, squad plt and so on.
If the lives of soldiers are going to count on their gear I hope that none of that crap is allowed to be used by our guys. Let the fat wanna be’s, the airsoft/paintball fags and the mall ninjas buy that stuff so they can try’n look cool at Starbucks or where ever losers like that hang out.

  16. Riceball says:

A lot of hate here, I personally never understood all the hate against companies like Condor and in turn airsofters and paintballers. Companies like Condor exist because not everybody can afford or justify buying $200 – $300 plus Gucci gear; there are people out there who aren’t active military, private security contractors, or high speed door kickers that appreciate and like this gear but because we don’t rely on it for a living can’t justify the high cost of it and stuff from makers like Condor allow us to get some cool gear at a much more affordable price. Sure they may not be as well built as the genuine article but for most regular people who buy this stuff it’s good enough since our lives aren’t depending on it and we’re only using it for hiking/camping or maybe paintballing or airsoft.

On the subject of airsoft/paintball, why the hate? It’s just a hobby (or sport depending on who you talk to) so what’s the big deal? They’re really nothing more than a more sophisticated version of the old cowboys and indians or army guys most of us played as kids. Instead of waving our hands or cap guns and saying, “bang, bang, you’re dead” you’re using a gun that fires paint pellets or BBs and you can tell when somebody is “dead”. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if a good number of military folk, including grunt types, who play paintball or airsoft.

  17. Mtnboy says:

@ Riceball: So what you’re saying is that Condor is justified in stealing designs from reputable companies American companies and selling it to the hobbyist community because it’s cheap gear? Maybe if Condor had their own designs and used proper sewing techniques they could have a good product but, as far as I’m concerned I would never let myself wear something from a company with a reputation like Condors.

  18. Oxide says:

@ Mtnboy: Condors not going anywhere, deal with it.

  19. Strategos says:

I understand that we don’t like companies stealing patterns, but come on, plenty of reputable companies do the same. Slings, mag pouches, chest rigs. I wonder if the first dude to put bungee on an open-top pouch is pissed that every other company does the same. Of course, those aren’t exactly high-caliber items, but take the Eagle RRV. Now compare it to Blackhawk’s Commando Recon Chest Chest Harness, especially the “STRIKE” version. Or HSGI’s Wasatch series. And the “enhanced” Blackhawk rig comes even closer to the HSGI rig. Ares Armor’s Combat XII pack is quite close to TAG’s Combat Sustainment pack. Or I’ve seen plenty of packs that look very similar to Maxpedition Vultures, like from Rothco or even a Humvee-licensed one. Yeah, minor differences, but the same could be said about Condor’s line (and yeah, that includes lower quality). I’m not endorsing Condor, after a utility pouch that didn’t fit onto PALS I passed. But I don’t really buy that argument, at least not completely. To be completely fair, their entire line is comprised of knock-offs.

  20. Administrator says:

Ya know there are websites that will post stuff like this JUST to generate the controversy to drive up web traffic.

  21. ThatGUY says:

Condor has a huge consumer market – The Paintball and Airsoft community.

  22. WBR says:

Low quality….lowwer business practices…remember all their profits are going to China..nothing stays here except for the poor schleepers working in their werehouse paychecks..

  23. Octane says:

I don’t understand why Condor is apparently hated so much (I never knew they had a poor reputation before I read this post). I haven’t had a problem with the stuff I have from them.

  24. SIGINT says:

    @ ThatGUY

I don’t personally know anyone that plays paintball and airsoft, but I know plenty of soldiers running Condor pouches and they are holding up as well as any of the USGI issue MOLLE kit.

  25. A very interesting article. I like to read this article.
