Unfortunately, we can’t give too many details (yet), but SOFREP Editor Brandon Webb is working with an unidentified company on a new hunting camouflage. They are telling me that this will be next breakthrough pattern in the outdoor industry because they are working to conceal the hunter in more than just the visual spectrum. The idea is great camo with signature management properties at an affordable price.

Very interesting and pretty cool looking camo. However, having never hunted before, is signature management an important thing to have in hunting clothing? Do game animals actually see beyond the visual spectrum?
Signature management is very important while hunting. Although most game animals utilize the UV spectrum and supposedly can see some tones of blue and yellows. The most significant issue when designing hunting camo are the tones and shapes of the pattern. i.e. macro and micro patterns. Hard to tell from the photos but this colorway looks very micropatterned and almost any camo performs well when thrown into shade and hidden behind natural vegetation.
Maybe they’ll print it on $600 Sitka China-made jackets!

Agreed on all. The important thing with camo is the material matrix it’s printed on and the pattern itself. You can print multi-cam on bad material and end up with a bunch of blown out crotches….just ask some warfighters.
We are working signature management in the IR and Thermal spectrum on this bad boy….I’m pulling out all the stops and using everything I learned as the former SEAL sniper CM to make some bad ass AFFORDABLE camo…stay tuned and thanks for the feedback. -BW

Out of curiosity, what game animals see IR &/or thermal? I’ve tried doing some research on the subject but all I come up with is that some animals, like deers and some birds, are UV sensitive but nothing about IR. With that being the case, wouldn’t this camo be of more value if it had signature management in the UV spectrum as well or instead of IR and thermal?

Can’t see much of a macropattern in the photos yet, perhaps it could use a bit stronger one? (just a humble opinion from a guy on the internet)

Also, dunno who to tell it to, but there are already hunting camouflages designed to work specifically in the prey’s visual spectra, like Gore/HyperStealth’s OptiFade. Were you primarily offering a more affordable option for hunters?
Great point MCS but the same individuals who designed Opti-fade were responsible for UCP. Just sayin. I have personally used Opti-fade for 2 full hunting seasons as a professional guide and aside from the technicality of the clothing believe the pattern to be less effective than wearing plaid.
