Blue Force Gear Introduces MOLLEminus at Warrior Expo East

As a natural extension of their Helium Whisper technology, Blue Force Gear introduces MOLLEminus. MOLLE minus the weight, MOLLE minus the bulk, MOLLE minus the complexity. MOLLEminus is the thinnest, strongest, lightest modular load carriage standard on the market: half the thickness of a dime, over 4 times as abrasion resistant as traditional materials and formed from a single piece of Blue Force Gear’s proprietary ULTRAcomp.

“After working with ULTRAcomp for several months we realized there were a lot of benefits to be had by using it for the substrate of the MOLLE compatible platform, as well as the pouch backers,” said Stephen Hilliard, Blue Force Gear’s Director of Product Development.

Fully backward compatible with legacy MOLLE, MOLLEminus supports existing MOLLE and PALS compatible pouches including Blue Force Gear’s revolutionary Helium Whisper Attachment System. MOLLEminus plus Helium Whisper pouches provide the versatility of modular load carriage with less weight and bulk than sewn options.

The first item in the new MOLLEminus line is the RACKminus. It’s all part of Blue Force Gear’s big scheme to lighten your load. Helium Whisper Reduces the weight of pouches and MOLLEminus reduces the weight of platforms.

RACKminus is the simplest modular chest rig on the market and it weighs in at half the weight of a loaded M4 magazine. RACKminus can be mounted to most MOLLE armor carriers using two female repair buckles and two tee mounts. MOLLEminus mesh lined shoulder straps are free breathing, MOLLE compatible and provide routing for communications wires, hydration tubes or antennas.

As you can see, I weighed it and it comes it at 254 grams. Just half a pound.

    Estimated MSRP?

I hate that everyone got scammed into using those mannequins. They suck terribly and because they got the first round out it means they have money to make more crap.

The rig looks great though, and they put it over a great Kühl shit that’s pretty comfy. It’s nice to see they included the Mayflower ITW buckle-to-plate carrier concept. More and more companies are going that way it ‘s basically an amazing way to swap loadouts and give you a clean carrier to deal with or a way to take your loadout when you don’t need or want armor weight. Hopefully it’ll be available soon; when they announced helium whisper they waited so long it seemed like a lot of people forgot or lost interest by the time it showed up.

  3. Mac says:

Their site has it at $100.00.

      Just awesome!

Firstly Helium Whisper and now MOLLEminus and RACKminus. These guys are amazing and Stephen is pure gold.

If MSRP is just $100 I think I will go for it because I can’t afford a plate carrier and this would be a good choice meanwhile situation stands. (Yesterday our Government announced an extra salary cut in all Government officials, that’s around $2000 for me).

Why doesn’t someone come out with a mesh magazine carrier if you’re talking about weight reduction. A mesh magazine carrier would also reduce the total weight of the rig. The weight you have is the total weight of a fully loaded magazine. Plus there are other places to reduce weight, mesh canteen carrier, mesh camelback carrier, and so forth.

    • SSD says:

You don’t lose enough weight with mesh to make up for the PITA of manufacturing them.

    • Stephen says:

Mesh fabric that is durable enough for field use is heavier than 500D Cordura. When you look at something like an athletic mesh it doesn’t last long at all when used as a component of load carriage. Further, as SSD already commented, mesh is a real pain to sew in production.

This opens up a bunch of new options. Maybe we will see a Mini- RACKminus soon. If the price is right one could rig up a couple of these things and stow them just about anywhere. I would love to have multiple rigs for different locations(ie, patrol car, POV, home, RV……) Nobody can argue that this isn’t a great period for innovation in the shooting community.

This stuff looks just like Crye Precision’s AirLite featured herehttps://ssdaily.tempurl.host/2012/01/17/crye-precision-for-the-win/
its crazy, I wish people would try and invent the “next” great piece of gear instead of just copying someone else

    • SSD says:

Different material solutions. Airlite as we have seen it is a plate carrier. This is a chest rig.

    • Stephen says:

There is nothing new about cutting holes in a single layer of material to make a MOLLE compatible substrate. SDS did it 10 years ago with one of their commercial shoulder bags and it’s popped up here and there before that. The innovation is in the material/fabric development and production methods. This particular chest rig also happend to be the first one commercially available.

  8. Mitch says:

Isnt that similar to High Grounds “the Chest Rig”? What is difference?

    • Cyphre says:

      About 64 grams?

But seriously, The Chest Rig is standard nylon webbing. Similar concepts of shaving weight while retaining identical functionality; different ways of going about it. This is just another evolution of Blue Force Gear equipment to the tune of Helium Whisper.
