Tactical Tailor Licenses Blue Force Gear’s Helium Whisper

Monday, December 17th, 2012

Blue Force Gear has just announced they have licensed their Helium Whisper technology to Tactical Tailor. Helium Whisper technology is a single piece modular backer made of a high performance laminate called ULTRAcomp that can be integrated into virtually any load carrying pouch during manufacturing.

“Providing exactly what the customer requires is our goal, incorporating this technology into our product allows us to do it very easily, that’s exciting,” said GW Ayers, Tactical Tailor’s Director of Sales. “Helium Whisper will support our efforts to fulfill an immediate SOF LCS Contract requirement.”

Tactical Tailor is the second company to license this lightweight technology after Velocity Systems announced in July it had licensed Helium Whisper which resulted in significant weight and manufacturing savings.

“We are excited to have engineered a system that other respected load carriage companies are choosing to utilize,” said Ashley Burnsed, Blue Force Gear’s CEO. “At the end of the day, we are all working towards the same goal – to improve the soldier’s safety and survivability.”

Blue Force Gear provides the backers directly to the licensee and they develop the best way to integrate them into their pouch designs. They can reduce weight up to 60% over traditional MOLLE attachment systems.

UPDATE – Tactical Tailor MALICE clip fans fear not. They aren’t going to stop using them or manufacturing them.

Blue Force Gear Introduces SPLITminus Chest Rig

Wednesday, November 28th, 2012

Lots of folks were very interested in Blue Force Gear’s RACKminus minimalist chest rig but wanted the convenience of a split front setup. BFG listened and has just announced the SPLITminus entry to their MOLLEminus line which is the perfect complement for their highly popular Helium Whisper pouch technology. The panels are cut from a single sheet of ULTRAcomp material rather than layers of separately cut nylon. This makes for a lighter overall construction.

SPLITminus integrates two side-release buckles into the design to facilitate donning and doffing yet still weighs in at 250 grams which is 5 grams lighter than the RACKminus. This is due to the strip of load carrying real estate removed up front to accommodate the buckles meaning each side has MOLLE fields of 6 columns by 3 rows. Currently in MultiCam only.

Weaving a Helium Whisper Pouch onto a RACKminus

Friday, September 21st, 2012

Here, our Canadian friends at One Shot Tactical demonstrate how to weave a Blue Force Gear Helium Whisper pouch onto a RACKminus.

BFG RACKminus in Stock at OP Tactical

Wednesday, August 15th, 2012

Made from hydrophobic ULTRAcomp, the RACKminus from Blue Force Gear weighs just half a pound. Naturally, this MOLLE compatible chest rig has been sold out since it was released last month. But, at least for now, OP Tactical has it in stock.

OR – Cilogear

Thursday, August 2nd, 2012

Cilogear has introduced a signature line of packs. Now you can use the same setup as their sponsored athletes. For example, this is David Gottlieb model. He is a mountain rescue legend and relies on a special model of Cilogear’s 45 Worksack. It’s a combination of woven and non-woven fabrics to produce bomber performance. It’s fucking light and stupidly durable. Can you imagine a pack as light as 1.4 lbs stripped?

Velocity Systems

Thursday, July 12th, 2012

I just met with Velocity Systems in here Virginia Beach at 1st Annual Beach Blast and they showed me an example of their licensed Helium Whisper pouches. Here can see a traditional MOLLE construction utility pouch compared to a Velocity Systems design incorporating Helium Whisper backer construction along with their design philosophy and material selection.

The traditional construction pouch weighs .43 lbs.

The Velocity Systems design incorporating their features as well as Helium Whisper literally weighs half as much at .215 lbs.

These products as well as the new Velocity Utility Belt (seen on Gear Scout) will be available through Velocity Systems and Mayflower Research & Consulting’s redesigned ecommerce site in about 45 days.

Blue Force Gear Introduces MOLLEminus at Warrior Expo East

Thursday, July 12th, 2012

As a natural extension of their Helium Whisper technology, Blue Force Gear introduces MOLLEminus. MOLLE minus the weight, MOLLE minus the bulk, MOLLE minus the complexity. MOLLEminus is the thinnest, strongest, lightest modular load carriage standard on the market: half the thickness of a dime, over 4 times as abrasion resistant as traditional materials and formed from a single piece of Blue Force Gear’s proprietary ULTRAcomp.

“After working with ULTRAcomp for several months we realized there were a lot of benefits to be had by using it for the substrate of the MOLLE compatible platform, as well as the pouch backers,” said Stephen Hilliard, Blue Force Gear’s Director of Product Development.

Fully backward compatible with legacy MOLLE, MOLLEminus supports existing MOLLE and PALS compatible pouches including Blue Force Gear’s revolutionary Helium Whisper Attachment System. MOLLEminus plus Helium Whisper pouches provide the versatility of modular load carriage with less weight and bulk than sewn options.

The first item in the new MOLLEminus line is the RACKminus. It’s all part of Blue Force Gear’s big scheme to lighten your load. Helium Whisper Reduces the weight of pouches and MOLLEminus reduces the weight of platforms.

RACKminus is the simplest modular chest rig on the market and it weighs in at half the weight of a loaded M4 magazine. RACKminus can be mounted to most MOLLE armor carriers using two female repair buckles and two tee mounts. MOLLEminus mesh lined shoulder straps are free breathing, MOLLE compatible and provide routing for communications wires, hydration tubes or antennas.

As you can see, I weighed it and it comes it at 254 grams. Just half a pound.

Blue Force Gear Licenses Helium Whisper Technology to Velocity Systems

Monday, July 2nd, 2012

Remember we recently told you that something exciting was coming from Blue Force Gear and Velocity Systems? Well, here it is. This is a major announcement with VS being the first company to license Helium Whisper. It was just a year ago that we broke the story on this new lightweight load carrying technology.

Blue Force Gear announced today that they will provide their weight-slashing Helium Whisper technology to Velocity Systems. Velocity is the first company to license Blue Force Gear’s patent pending Helium Whisper and this technology will enhance the products they currently provide to elite users.

20120702-110356.jpg

“Helium Whisper ushers in a new category of MOLLE by eliminating the weight penalty of modular military load carriage,” said Ashley Burnsed, Blue Force Gear’s CEO. “It creates the kind of weight savings our troops need to improve their performance and survivability. Velocity Systems shares our passion for delivering revolutionary products to the finest customers on the planet and their experience and integrity made them the perfect first choice for licensing our lifesaving technology.”

“We are excited about this teaming,” said David Strum, President of Velocity Systems, “Helium Whisper is an incredible advancement in design and material use and we are ecstatic to be a part of it. This technology will provide tangible benefits to our customers and keep our pouches on the cutting edge of performance. It is always great to work with like-minded people who care about what they do and who they are doing it for and Ashley Burnsed and his team at BFG are “top shelf” people making this teaming an absolute must.”

Helium Whisper allows modular pouch backs to be constructed from a single piece of high-performance laminate versus the multiple straps and snaps of outdated designs. This amazing breakthrough increases strength and durability of pouches while eliminating failure points and reducing weight by up to 60 percent. Helium Whisper licensing allows OEM customers to reduce sewing costs, minimize alignment errors, maintain or increase durability, and stay relevant to today’s weight-conscious military customers.
