PNW Arms Introduces Supercavitating Underwater Bullets

PNW Arms has introduced a new Supercavitating Underwater Bullet. It’s designed for use in maritime environments where you might want to engage submerged or partially submerged targets. Typically .308 bullets will only go through three to four (3-4) jugs at most. This example shows it going through 13 one gallon jugs, a steel plate, and then another jug. In waterborne operations this general purpose version of the projectile can go over 15 meters underwater and then have positive effects on target.

Pretty cool stuff but shouldn’t the last line read “the projectile can go over 15m underwater and then have “negative” effects on the target.”?

No, a negative effect would be negative as in “it didn’t work.” You want positive effects.

Will these be classed as Armor Piercing despite not having a steel penetrator? They look like they may be harder on barrel life than standard ammo. With stability like that, I also have to wonder about it’s terminal effects. It adds a dimension of guaranteed over penetration of tissue.

Did it look like there was a hole in the tip of the bullet that travels all the way through? Maybe that’s how it stays so stable.

I don’t like the way it’s shown on the video. I would like to see the steel plate shot in underwater conditions.
