You are such a bloody tease!
They’ve been talking about this thing forever (same with the X300 Compact). Can we get an ETA?
Surefire has confirmed that the compact x300 is indefinitely shelved.
Estimated MSRP? Is this going to be an in addition to the standard X300, or a direct replacement? Too bad we won’t be able to “upgrade” our current 300s. Expect to see a lot of X300s on the forums and eBay for sale once these bad boys are released.
The x300 is a great light, looking to pick up another soon..Does anyone know if they plan to decrease price on the lower lumen light?
I can’t remember Surefire ever decreasing a price. I would expect the older X300’s will just be discontinued.
299 in the MSRP we’ve been seeing
The new bezel doesn’t look as if it will fit into existing holsters… That’s a let down. I would imagine it would be some time before gear manufacturers would be able to make new rigs that would hold the new light. I liked the idea better when the prototype looked as if it used the older bezel design.
I don’t know if it’s worth switching all the older gear for an extra 200+ lumens.
The new X300U-A will fit in Safariland holsters made for the current X300’s. There may be issues with tighter molded kydex holsters such as Raven Concealment… MSRP is currently set at $299.00, and the X300 is scheduled to remain in production for at least a few more years.
Curious what happens to your eyes when you light a white bedroom wall with 500 lumens?
You see more. It’s not rocket science. :p My EDC is a 500+ lm light, and it is excellent for general purpose use.
You guys who are used to older Surefires really should try out some P60 modules with newer LEDs for your 6Ps every once in a while, instead of listening to what some instructor claims is ‘too much’ light for one use or the other. It’s individual preference, and usually, when a light has a utilitarian distribution of light rather than a tightly focused spot beam, more lumens means a more useful light, not a user-blinding light.
Totally agree, you should be trying new lights all the time. The blindness thing depends on what environment you working in. During the Iraqi invasion when there was no power it was pitch black everywhere. Going into buildings 200 lumens was too bright for me. Here in the states where there is lots of light around, 200 lumens doesn’t bother me at all.
Don’t take my word for it, go get a couple lights and try it (best is to borrow lights from others).
People whined about the transition to weaponlights
People whined about the switch from the Nitrolon series to the X200
People whined about the switch from the x200 to the x300
People will whine about this.
And every single one of us will buy one. 🙂
For the record, I still use a an M111 Millenium Weaponlight with a KL6 head. This new light might make me switch.
Oh, it definitely will. The U is bad ass. Got to mess around a little with a preproduction sample a while back. Now I want to replace my year old X300’s.
