With these words, York Arms joined Barrett, EFI LLC, LaRue Tactical, Midway USA, Olympic Arms, Templar Custom of North Carolina, and Cheaper than Dirt. Yes, even Cheaper Than Dirt who seem keen to gain back their rep after being accused of price gouging after magazine sales sky rocketed in December.
Almost daily the list of firearms manufacturers and dealers grows who have curtailed sales of guns and parts to law enforcement agencies in areas that have made the same items illegal for civilian use. Critics have countered that it won’t not amount to much as we understand the federal government is offering surplus M16A2s to state law enforcement agencies, but the unity of firearms manufacturers coming together to boycott the sale of their products to areas such as New York which have banned so-called assault weapons and high capacity magazines is rather interesting. Even if you think these are symbolic gestures, sometimes those are just enough to garner the attention of decision makers.

I know Barrett refuses to deal with CA LE and government agencies in CA. Other than that nothing else I know of.
Just about every cop I know changes out the upper, stock, and pistol grip on DRMO M16’s if they are allowed to do so.
We need manufacturers like Daniel Defense, BCM, Colt that sell high quality parts and uppers that are sought after by Law Enforcement and Government agencies to update the M16’s to modern standards to stand with these other companies.
Agreed, also other companies that provide things like body armor, tazers, oc spray, etc, I know the left will spin it as not supporting LE but really the tyrants in charge need to know that we will not stand for this nonsense

I’m a LEO, and I support these companies 110%, but then again I live in a state where our state Sheriff’s and peace officers association has publicly stated they will not enforce any federal bans.
I find it interesting that the federal government would give away M16A2s…given that these companies sell much more than just firearms. If defense industries (see Body Armor, armored vehicles, weapons accessories) stop supporting these states, maybe that would put a little more hitch in their giddy up. Also, those weapons will eventually break down. I know the M16A2’s my unit had in alaska broke pretty often.
The ones we got were manufactured in 1974 and been ragged out pretty good.

I absolutely love this. More manufacturers need to hop on THIS bandwagon and strengthen their resolve. It will be the states that erode our rights, not the federal government, they are just providing the catalyst and rhetoric.

This is so good to hear. As a deputy sheriff I do not feel that we should have anything that the law abiding citizens of my county couldn’t have. Luckily this insanity has not hit Ohio. I pray it doesn’t. It is the idiocy of the large cities that is destroying this country. I urge everyone to look at the election maps from the past election. The country was red except for every major city.
Our office has received some of the M-16’s, they are old Viet Nam era, triangle hand guard weapons. Not many of the guys like them. The Sheriff’s around my county are banding together and coming out publicly and stating they will refuse to enforce any federal law disarming the American People. Our sheriff displayed a Come And Take It flag during a recent promotion ceremony. The Lines are being drawn.

Just a thought, I know of several “outfits” that are currently making SOME of their own replacement parts. If MOST manufacturers quit selling to LE/Agencies couldn’t the Government start their OWN manufacturing of firearms to sell/distribute to LE/Agencies? If that happens, well, I don’t need to list all the possibilities. However, I am a staunch PROponent of the 2A and say good job to these Companies that are doing all they can to help the 2A.
I hope that it translates into a grassroots tsunami that will wash through the halls of legislative bodies come election time. This solidarity is magnificent!

On the downside, business will take a hit and police departments in that state may not be prepared for incidents.
On the upside, it’s the right thing to do. Police shouldn’t get any “we’re special” stickers that exempt them from these bullshit bills. I just laughed when the police in NY made a press release saying “…..oh shit. We forgot to write ourselves out of this bill so we’re stuck w/ low cap mags too.”

Just a thought here, but cops don’t make laws. They’re required to enforce laws created by the legislatures above them… The dirtbags they’ll be up against in these situations will still have some serious hardware, and it’s a shame that due to political reasons, these cops may not have the best equipment available.
Most cops I know, state, federal, and local, are 2A supporters, and hate the laws that are being proposed as much as most of us. I applaud these companies for standing up for their rights, but I want people to recognize that in trying to send a message to these state legislatures, they’re only hurting the cops in the process. Do you really think some state lawmaker will read these statements and say “oh my god, what have I done?” big. fat. negative. Most likely they’ll be happy to keep those goods out of the hands of anyone. ANYONE. That is what their end goal is anyway!
These laws only hurt law abiding citizens and the police who are protecting them, just like sequestration hurts the Joe on the ground, who has to road march to training now, if they have $$ for training at all.

Sean, unfortunately the “Law ENFORCEMENT Officers” in Southern Collectivistafornia where I live are a completely different breed from the “Peace Officers” in other parts of the country. Anything that limits them to nothing more capable than what I own is a very positive step in the right direction. Heck, based on their recent actions against the two newspaper delivery ladies and others in LA maybe we should relegate them to revolvers with only one round like Barney Fife until they learn how to properly identify their targets first.
I know of Sheriffs Deputies in places like Wyoming, etc. who treat citizens with respect because in a rural area the nearby citizen may be your only backup since the next closest deputy is 30 minutes away. Unfortunately that is NOT the mentality here in Southern Commiefornia. I took quite a few criminal justice courses just to educate myself on the current state of the criminal justice system and what I discovered was not good. A vast majority of the instructors and cops I encountered during class discussion were openly hostile and outspoken about us mundanes having firearms. They were completely against concealed carry permits and they outright said they believe that only they should have guns for officer safety of course because heaven forbid they had to face the uncertainty of knowing if one of us peasants might be armed during one of their calls.
My questions is since when did the officer’s life count for more than yours or mine and how did we ever get to this sorry state of affairs?
Anyway, I hope every ammo, gun and firearm accessory manufacturer gets on board with this.
Colt is the main supplier to LE in NJ/NY of carbines. While i applaud the idea, I don’t think there will be any tangible results. Worse, living in a ban state, many of these companies have never sold carbines and rifles to non-LE. So why the sudden change if heart after almost 20 years?
Here’s a radical idea. instead of posturing and chest beating, how about these companies start prioritizing orders to NJ and MD and help arm as many people as possible before we go the same way as NY? How about these companies create a fund that can help those in NY hire lawyers to fight this. The NRA abandon us decades ago 🙁

It’s by the vote of the people that they’re in office and conversly can be not supported at the next election. So if you really want to affect change, YOU need to get off you A** and rally the voters to get these lowlife’s out of office. That’s right… YOU need to do MORE than what you’re currently doing to affect a change. Obummer want’s ever American to be more involved in the community by volunterring. I am a Chief of Police in rural Arizona, I agree with the decision made by these companies. Furthermore, I will not direct, nor will my troops enforce ANY federal law calling for disarmament and/or infringement of the peoples 2nd Amendment rights.
I do not have a “union rep” to lobby on my departments behalf, and don’t need or want one. I do not take orders from a mayor, or a city council with regards to which laws we enforce, as they have no legal authority to direct me or my troops to do so, nor do they have any legal grounds to direct me on which side of this issue to stand on.
As a police officer in the state of Arizona, we were/are, all required to swear an oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies foreign and domestic. And I will do just that.
I have met with my congressman, and wrote to my senators and have made my position known. Don’t sit around and wait for “somebody” to do it for you, or trust that they will, do it yourself.
Thankfully Arizona has not started down the same path that some of the other states have, proposing legislation restricting citizens 2nd Amendment rights. We are a constitutional carry state.
