LaRue Tactical – Limited-Edition FDE 7.62 Heavy-Barreled PredatAR Rifle

Tuesday, April 11th, 2017

Recently several readers have brought up LaRue Tactical’s recent 1st place showing at the USASOC Sniper Comp. They recently announced a second release of their Limited-Edition FDE 7.62 Heavy-Barreled PredatAR Rifle on Facebook. Below is their post, and yes, it looks like owner Mark LaRue is keeping number 500 all to himself.

By popular demand, we’ve made the 2nd release of last year’s Limited-Edition 7.62 “Heavy-Barreled” PredatAR, in FDE.

The first 125 units (match-numbered on the upper and lower) sold at high noon on New Year’s Day 2016 in 4 minutes flat.

For those of you who know the “Costa Edition” 5.56 Rifle, this 7.62 offering closely follows the same configuration. It beautifully combines the popular and lightweight PredatAR chassis with our 16″ heavy LaRue Barrel. If you have a Costa and want a matching serial number, let us know … we are trying to accommodate.

Each Upper Receiver, Lower Receiver, and Handguard is finished in FDE.
Selected black components and black GAP rail covers provide dramatic contrast.

The 2nd release comprises Serial numbers 126 – 499.

Please pardon my reach, but the 500th one is mine.

This will go hot at high noon Central Time Wednesday April 12th. Go take a look now, kick the tires, even if you are not interested, as that will leave bandwidth for those that are to crowd in and make their buy on Wednesday.

If you are wondering about LaRue accuracy, the 1st place finishers at the USASOC 2017 Military Sniper Competition won 2 weeks ago with a pair of LaRue rifles. That makes two years in a row LaRue rifles took 1st Place.

For those ordering a rifle, there will be a follow-on post-sale offering of great accessories, at great prices.

LaRue Decides Not To Pursue US Army M110 Sniper Rifle Upgrade

Sunday, March 10th, 2013

After determining that the juice isn’t worth the squeeze, LaRue Tactical has decided to opt out of the US Army’s US Army’s Compact Semi-Automatic Sniper System (CSASS) program which, as currently structured could resu in a replacement for the current M110 gas operated sniper rifle.

LaRue’s Thoughts on the M110 Compact Semi-Automatic Sniper System (CSASS).

It’s no secret that LaRue Tactical is one of the contenders for the US Army’s Compact Semi-Automatic Sniper System (CSASS). The CSASS solicitation is exploring the options for reconfiguring the existing M110 Semi-Automatic Sniper System (SASS) currently available in Army inventory, or completely replacing the M110 with a new system.

At the recent SHOT Show, aisle-talk centered on impending and drastic military cuts. Rumors were flying, from aircraft carriers missing important scheduled maintenance, to drastically-reduced training flights, to warships stacking up in Pacific harbors …

Given the tsunami of cutbacks our military organizations are crashing head-on into, we feel the substantial costs required for LaRue Tactical to pursue the upcoming CSASS / M110-Upgrade would simply be a waste of resources.

While we believe that America’s Warfighters should always have the best, and that we are large enough to handle the project, our consensus is that the program will not gain full traction. We feel our money is better spent invested in people, processes, manufacturing infrastructure, and continued improvements to our product lines.

Henceforth, we are officially opting-out of the CSASS / M110-Upgrade solicitation.

However, let it be known that our doors are always open for OTS/OTC purchases … like recent customers: FBI-HRT, DEA, U.S. Marshals, DoE, Texas Rangers, just to name a few …

“For LE/Govt customers in New York: Your orders have been cancelled.”

Sunday, February 17th, 2013

“Based on the recent legislation in New York, we are prohibited from selling rifles and receivers to residents of New York. We have chosen to extend that prohibition to all governmental agencies associated with or located within New York. As a result we have halted sales of rifles, short barreled rifles, short barreled shotguns, machine guns, and silencers to New York governmental agencies.

For “civilian” customers residing in New York: At your choice, we will:
complete your order and ship to a dealer of your choice outside of NY refund your payment in full
hold your items here for up to 6 months, at no charge – if you are in the process of leaving NY and taking residence in another state.

For LE/Govt customers in New York:
Your orders have been cancelled.

With these words, York Arms joined Barrett, EFI LLC, LaRue Tactical, Midway USA, Olympic Arms, Templar Custom of North Carolina, and Cheaper than Dirt. Yes, even Cheaper Than Dirt who seem keen to gain back their rep after being accused of price gouging after magazine sales sky rocketed in December.

Almost daily the list of firearms manufacturers and dealers grows who have curtailed sales of guns and parts to law enforcement agencies in areas that have made the same items illegal for civilian use. Critics have countered that it won’t not amount to much as we understand the federal government is offering surplus M16A2s to state law enforcement agencies, but the unity of firearms manufacturers coming together to boycott the sale of their products to areas such as New York which have banned so-called assault weapons and high capacity magazines is rather interesting. Even if you think these are symbolic gestures, sometimes those are just enough to garner the attention of decision makers.

LaRue Tactical Issues New Sales Policy for State and Local Agencies

Friday, February 8th, 2013

Earlier today, LaRue Tactical issued this press release.

NEWS RELEASE:
02/08/2013 LEANDER, TX.

Updated Policy for State and Local Agency Law Enforcement Sales:

Due to the recent and numerous new Anti-gun/Anti-2nd Amendment laws passed and/or pending across our country, LaRue Tactical has been forced to reconsider how we provide products to state and local agencies.

Effective today, in an effort to see that no legal mistakes are made by LaRue Tactical and/or its employees, we will apply all current State and Local Laws (as applied to civilians) to state and local law enforcement / government agencies. In other words, LaRue Tactical will limit all sales to what law-abiding citizens residing in their districts can purchase or possess.

State and local laws have always been a serious focus of this firm, and we are now dovetailing that focus with the constitutional rights of the residents covered in their different areas by the old and new regulations.

We realize this effort will have an impact on this firm’s sales – and have decided the lost sales are less danger to this firm than potential lawsuits from erroneous shipments generated by something as simple as human error.

Thanks in advance for your understanding.

Mark LaRue
