GCS is welcoming in March with a preorder special for Gerber’s latest; The Downrange Tomahawk.
Specifically designed to accomplish three breaching tasks, the axe head cuts through walls and rope while the hammerhead is the perfect size for smashing through obstacles like hinges, door knobs and locking devices. A hefty pry at the end of the tool can be employed confidently with a cutaway handle in the axe head – this allows the user to maximize leverage during the breach. Desert Tan G-10 scales mount the 420HC steel with KG gun cote to provide maximum grip regardless of environment.
Order between now and 31 March at www.gcswarrior.com and get 30% off the retail cost. Be the first in line when the Gerber start shipping at the beginning of April.
Nice tool. Bad photoshop.
hahaha, That’s a horrible photoshop.
Well, maybe it’ll work ok, but by skeletonizing the head you lose the heavy mass at the end of the lever arm (handle) necessary for efficient use.
I think the idea is multi-function with no function being necessarily more important than the other. With the pry bar, the skeletonized head (handle) is a great feature; even at the expense of losing some of that swinging mass while using the axe. I will be wringing one out soon so we’ll see.
Great for up close and personal, zombie killing………………………
I was all yeah I’ll do that, %30 off a Gerber, nothing to lose, then I looked at the price…
Can we please get over this tomahawk thing already!?! This is not the Last of the Mohicans or Vietnam. Hell I have yet to meet a LRRP or SOG VN guy who bothered to weigh his kit down with a ‘hawk. Try the doorbell.
Not everyone needs every tool, but one guy with a ‘hawk is nice.
It’s also quite nice for firewood while backpacking.
They don’t have an Australian shipping option 🙁
“You better finish remodeling that bathroom” they said. “Your wife will be angry” they said. “Your life is going to be miserable” they said. Six years later I said, “Honey, I’ll finish that bathroom before starting any other projects this summer if I can get this great field axe”. “You promise you’ll finish it before starting a new motorcycle, shed, gun, trailer, trojan horse, or gun safe” she questioned. “Yup”. “Deal”.
Thanks for posting this SSD! Between this and my ATLAS belt you guys are keeping me rolling. This is going to be great for adventuring this summer after I finish that bathroom 😉
I looked at this at SHOT and while it did look impressive, the horrible photoshop job does two injustices. In reality, the tom was about half the size it looks in his hands. It was about the same size as the old Vietnam style SOG toms.
