This is the boot I have turned to for years when I am looking for something to deal with serious terrain. They are extremely lightweight and require little to no breaking time. The Quest 4D offers a great deal of ankle support and incorporates a Gore-Tex liner.
Previously only available from a TLS vendor for unit and agency orders the Absolute Brown color is now an exclusive from TD for commercial sales. It goes great with AOR, MARPAT, and OCP camouflage.

These boots are awesome. I just came back from 3 days backpacking trip in the Yukons, went through bush, mud and snow with absolutely no problem! Not a military or LE personnel myself, but I can tell you Solomon boots are no joke.
What is the closest equivalent without the Gortex liner?

Last week’s XA 3D Mid is a different boot than the Quest 4D. Saw a couple of places in the UK selling all black Quest 4Ds, but none in the US.

I own two pairs, one in Autobahn/Flea (Gray) the other in Green/black (O.D.).
First pair $150.00 new on Ebay 2 years ago, the second pair $185.00 on Amazon, not easy to find in size 7.
Once a month I apply a thick area of ‘Shoe Goo” to the heel area where a tap would usually be placed… they “never” wear down that way.
These shoes are superb… very light, tough, waterproof.
I like this color combo much better than most of the colors you find on Salomon’s shoes. I may make a trip over to VA Beach now to check these out, I just wish they weren’t so dang expensive! But hey, buye once Crye once…

I wish they would stop doing this! TD don’t ship to the UK and every time they get these I just die inside. I’m going to email Salomon saying how its not fair see if they feel sorry for me….
I know the feeling, so have to stick with my green and black ones for now, but have to say awesome boots and perfecly suited to the mil community !!
If I remember correctly, I think the brown has been available in Europe. They just had the green here in the States.
I’m Asian born and have big, wide foot. I assume they have no width width option.
How’s Salomon’s footwear about width? Will they fit my cone-shaped feet? Any advice would be appreciated.

With Oakley and Merrells I need a wide, I have 2 pairs of different Salomons and neither are wides and they are good to go.
I agree – I wear wides normally and both the Quests and Mids fit fine.
Very good boot and one that I recommend but it is not available in a wide version. I wish it was, I would spend a lot more time in mine.
Seeing as the UK has switched to brown boots, why haven’t they made these available in the UK? Every cool kid in the army has a pair, they’re awesome by all accounts but seeing as black is out, why can’t somebody distribute? C’mon maaan
