Fayette, MO — The Mk3 CBR (Carbine Battle Rifle) is chambered in .308 WIN/7.62x51mm NATO and is precision-built to deliver the relentless functionality that CMMG rifles are known for. The Mk3 CBR is an ideal rifle for long-range shooting or close-quarters action and because it’s built with CMMG’s premium manufacturing requirements, it gives shooters the chance to own a high-end AR rifle at a practical price.

The Mk3 CBR features the free float RKM15 KeyMod hand guard that measures 15 inches in length to accommodate a wide range of hand positions and allows users to attach an assortment of different accessories. The KeyMod slots are located at the 3, 6 and 9 o’clock positions with a 1913 Picatinny rail on top to give the hand guard an array of mounting options.

The KeyMod system is the new industry standard for mounting accessories. It is a simple, comfortable and lightweight solution that offers users a low profile mounting alternative to the M1913 Picatinny rail. The KeyMod system presents a new level of customization, as it allows the direct attachment of compatible accessories without the use of intermediate M1913 Picatinny rails. For accessories that are not yet KeyMod compatible, users can purchase a separate CMMG 5-slot Picatinny adapter rail that can be easily attached to any of the KeyMod slots for optimal placement of the accessories.

The Mk3 CBR rifle is constructed with a hard anodized, billet 6061-T6 aluminum receiver. A 416 stainless barrel was selected and features a nitride finish that provides the barrel with long lasting accuracy and corrosion resistance. CMMG’s medium taper (MT) barrel is the perfect balance between weight and rigidity. The rifle also includes a CMMG SV muzzle brake, designed to reduce recoil and increase muzzle control for quick and manageable follow-up shots.

By partnering with other industry leaders, the Mk3 CBR has some of the best components available to complete the rifle. Some of these parts include a Geissele Automatics SSA 2-stage trigger, a Magpul ACS-L collapsible butt stock and Magpul MOE pistol grip. The rifle also comes with a Magpul 20 LR PMAG with a 20 round capacity. The combination of all of these features creates one of the most capable and affordable .308 WIN rifles available.

I really do wish that the industry would come out with a design that is more robust, and reliable. Having yet another ar-10 variant that is direct gas-impingement, seems to be a short term profit maker.

You mean like the SCAR 17s , LWRC reaper , and the Robinson Arms xcr-m , just to mention a a few. And by the way , the AR-10 is pretty robust and reliable . There is nothing wrong with the DI system , unless you’re one of those people that don’t understand what a PMCS or weapons maintenance is. You know , that stuff you should do with every weapon, no matter what.

Yawn! Another clone from a marginal company. That isn’t a Noveske, SCAR or a REPR. Oh and Kao-1 it’s REPR!

    • MilgearGeek says:

Yes, “one of those people” who were enlisted in the US Army, stationed in the middle east and found themselves in an extended firefight where they could not take the time for “PMCS or weapons maintenance”

Several soldiers have lots their lives due to the bad design:

A combat rifle needs to be 100% reliable – not just reliable in garrison or cantonment area where it can be regularly cleaned 4 times a day.

12 mags in 30min or less—-and you wonder why an M4 malfunctions… How effective were the 360 rounds sent out in that time? I’m guessing they made a lot of noise and that’s about it. Probably would have gone through half that amount of ammo had he been trying to place effective fires on the enemy.
How lubricated were the weapons? Any weapon can and will malfunction. Even the vaunted 416 does too, as does the M240B, and SCARs will as well in addition to destroying their accessories.

The myth of not lubricating weapons is still out there, and very well could have played into the issues with the M4 in Wanat. I personally haven’t seen anything about the lubrication levels of the M4s in Wanat. I know the DI system has worked fine for me over the past 13 years as an 11B with multiple deployments-when properly lubricated (and even more so with something better than CLP, partial to the Slip line of products myself).

Could the Army make improvements to the system? Yes, I sure wouldn’t complain if the Army decided to hand me a 416 one day, or an M4 with a mid-length gas system. But I’d sure rather see the Army give more range time and a vastly improved marksmanship program before they started going for hardware solutions to software problems.

You forget the whole price point aspect; I think this retails around $1600. What does a LMT or REPR run? It’s a good starting point for people to get onto the platform.

    looks slick,no fuss.
mac your spot on,even the ak fails without maintenance. 12 mags in 30 mins would bring a halt to the best of rifles no matter who made it.
