Warrior Expo – ExplosiveOps Gear

EOG offers a family of Titanium Entry Tools. Manufactured from Grade 5 Titanium, they are offered in two different shapes and two different lengths. We’ve mentioned the Viper Tool (seen in this photo) in the past with its crowbar-like appearance, but the TET is a different product.

The shorter version is 15″ and most often used by Assaulters. It is narrow enough to be carried threaded into MOLLE webbing. They also offer a PALS compatible pouch. There are also 19″ and 21″ models of the TET.

As you know, Titanium is a great material for these bars as it is both strong and lightweight. Additionally, Ti is non-magnetic.

Non magnetic, non sparking, light weight, and convenient carriage. What’s not to like? The PALS stowable width is excellent lateral thinking.

Being so great, Titanium has one special feature. Its microstructure is grainy, therefore, after some (usually, pretty long, like months or even years of usage) exposure to bending mechanical forces it cracks with almost no prior signs.
That’s why you will find only a few alpine carabiners made of Titanium, while there are plenty of those made of Aluminum alloys. And price is not the main problem here.
I’m not trying to say, titanium bars are bad. It’s good, but for own safety, it’s better to inspect this kind of equipment periodically, looking for very minor defects.

The tip geometry on that Viper is going to be a problem with establishing purchase on outward opening doors. They should have curved it slightly, like most Haligans are.
