VertX/Fighter Design – Phantom OPS Powered By Airflow

The very first Phantom OPS Airflow Pants, the result of a collaboration between VertX and Fighter Design, are now available.

Made from mini rip-stop pattern weave fabric, the Phantom OPS pant is built with Fighter Design’s Active Airflow System mesh insert which enables the movement of air for cooling purposes. Pockets are featured on the back and hip, and concealed zipper pockets on both sides offer discreet carry options. Triple-bellowed insert cargo pockets expand for additional capacity and have integrated mesh inserts for air flow. The knees are double-reinforced for extra protection against wear and tear.

I picked up a pair of these at SHOT show, and i love them. They’re comfy and the airflow has been nice the past couple warm days. The one thing I will say about them is this: I normally wear a size 34/34. I told the Vertx guys that at SHOT and they gave me a size 38/32 and said “trust me”, and they fit almost perfectly (they could maybe be an inch tighter, and the legs are a bit baggier than I would prefer, but overall, I’m fairly happy with the fit). Unless they’ve adjusted that issue since SHOT show, I’d keep that in mind when ordering.

    • Zach is correct on the sizing of the ripstop models. I have one rip stop pant and a bunch of the non ripstop mens pant. The non ripstop ones fit true to size. The rip stop ones are a size and a half to two sizes too small in the waist. I wish they would just fix their sizing on them.

Will you please tell me where these are manufactured?

  2. Timmay says:

Pretty nice and not too pricey but can’t anybody make good pair of pants for under $50?

    • defensor fortisimo says:

you can get conventional vertx from lapolice gear for about 45

  3. Chuck says:

Can anyone tell me how quiet these pants are? I love the fit of the VertX pants, but they are the noisiest pants I own.

    • Zach says:

I haven’t noticed any noise issues, and noisy pants do tend to annoy me as well.

  4. HMFIC says:

Ditto on the sizing – the pair I own also have baggy legs. I wear size 34×34 and they fit like 32×34

I have several pairs of ops and phantom lts. Mine were noisy at first but they break in well. I just wish this airflow version was ~$60-70 instead of -$90. I wear Vertx everyday. Sizing on my 32×30 was if anything a touch large. The elastic is great for layering and ease of movement.
