Shockwave Technologies has come up with their own take on the AR-15 pistol stabilizing brace, the Blade AR. The Blade AR incorporates a flexible stabilizing fin, which the user rests against the inside of their forearm when in use. This stabilizes the firearm in the horizontal plane, and the friction created between the forearm and fin stabilizes the firearm in the vertical plane. Color me skeptical. I will be surprised if BATFE approves this.
The user can also wrap a standard sling around the Blade AR to further stabilize the firearm.
Shockwave Technologies plans to release the Blade AR beginning in October of this year.

Mark my words. Companies are going to keep pushing the envelope and ATF is going to “reconsider” their earlier ruling on the Sig brace using the other attempts to follow as an excuse to reclassify the entire lot of them.
Yep. That “brace” was a stretch of the imagination. This… is an even further stretch.
atf ain’t bright but they ain’t blind neither
“Color me skeptical. I will be surprised if BATFE approves this.”
There’s no way. I hate pistol ARs. But this device may be the blue falcon for that platform.
True
I saw this and thought the same thing. It’ll be interesting to see what BATFE says.
Looking at this from a different angle…
Why is this even on a blog called “Soldier Systems”?
The market for this is vastly different and um… lets just say… it has different objectives than the average professional soldier.
I approved this only because it has me scratching me head.
Ya how dare you put what you want on your own site? As if this is a free country and how dare you think you have control of your own company?
Did you ever think that the average professional soldier may also be interested in purchasing firearms and firearm accessories for off duty use? As such AR pistols are growing in popularity and I know of several soldiers who have purchased AR pistols.
I guarantee the average soldier would purchase an AR pistol before they purchase a high speed Team Wendy helmet for example. Nothing against TW, I would love to have one of their products, but we get issued ballistic helmets that work. And while it is a great piece of gear and a solid improvement over the standard ACH, there isn’t much use for it off duty. But an AR pistol would get used a lot and makes more sense as a purchase. I only compare these two items because of their similarity in price.
Quit while we’re ahead. You can only get lucky sometimes. Greed has ruined many a man’s luck. Besides, Sigs’ brace is much nicer!
If the “Brace” we’ve seen of late wasn’t enough, now this. Between this and “Bump fire” type stocks our freedoms will surely be restricted. Register your damn SBR, or run 16in like everyone else. I don’t care if the laws are stupid, its still the law. Borderline work-arounds are only going to hurt us in the end.
Negative! Contrived whining libtards who are willing to hand the government our rights are what’s restricting our rights. Don’t register SHIT. Has everyone forgot that this is OUR country? Do 600 politicians control 300,000,000 people? I didn’t fight for politicians to make bullshit laws that they pass in the night without OUR vote, create agencies that are militant and corrupt, and I won’t obey them. In the end, we seal our own fate, or we can let em’ know that they won’t ever have control over us. I’m sure the forefathers said (whiney bitch voice) -“Just obey the laws, we’re going to have our freedoms taken away”. Bitch.
You remember that comment when these “Braces” are cited in some new, more restrictive legislation that passes. You aren’t the only one who fought for the country, either, so don’t make assumptions. Mark my words, these devices will be the end of the AR pistol, and maybe the AR in general. And don’t insult what the founding fathers fought for by equating it with a barrel length restriction.
“Pistol”
Not to mention the IP issues they will have with Magpul.
Revoke the NFA, the GCA and all other gun control legislation as they violate the spirit of the 2nd Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, and all this discussion goes away, as it should. The BATFE is not the problem, the laws and executive orders are the problem. If anyone advocates gun control, then they are willing to violate your civil rights and do not deserve your respect or vote. Ensure that they do not serve in any elected or appointed position.
Keep your eye on the prize, and do not be distracted. Be free men and women.
Hilarious,I was waiting for the “stabilizers” to be banned since the talk about using them as stocks started to spread. But this takes it to new levels of ridiculousness.
I’m skeptical also: it’s that duck analogy. If it looks like a stock, and “works” as a stock, it’s a stock. But does the BATFE actually have to approve this? I though SIG asked for a technical ruling on whether their stabilizer was a stock or not, received an official “no, it isn’t,” and things have spiraled out of control from there. I don’t think they approve things at all, just rule whether it meets that appropriate regs or not.
Again, this example really seems to be pushing it, but anything that isn’t illegal is be default legal.
this is why we can’t have nice shit
