NRAAM 2015 – FNH USA

FNH USA is not only releasing a semiauto version of the M249 but also Military Collector semiauto versions of the M4 and M16A4.

These are delivered just like they are to the government, complete with KAC rail systems. They even have Serial Number markings like the issue item. Although they are semi, they will be marked ‘SAFE, SEMI, FULL’. The production models will not only be properly marked but will also have the proper ambi safety.

    I’ll take an M4 clone and a 249 please.

  2. Bow says:

Very very cool. Thanks for posting.

  3. aj says:

    Show me the roll marks!

  4. ThatBlueFalcon says:

    That’s actually really cool.

  5. John says:

Are the barrels cold hammer forged?

  6. straps says:

I’m curious to know how the trigger feels on a semi-auto ‘249.

I’m also curious to know if a BELT-FED center-fire rifle with a pistol grip and all those other evil features is a different animal than the ARs that grabbers write their laws around.

I think I’d like to try and FFL a semi-auto ‘249 into California just to watch Kamala Harris go into vapor lock.

    • Patrick says:

Oh God, if you could get her to have a stroke it would be worth every penny. I don’t care how much it costs.

    • straps says:

Gotta enginerd a bullet button for that thing first…

    • Justin says:

They have made belt fed ARs for years so I don’t see how different this is. I do however see congress holding this “easily modifiable machine gun” in their hands when they push for more regulation. I can see this model being the poster child instead of the AR.

As far as the trigger, I am curious as well. It’s also only a matter of time before Taccon or someone like them makes a rapid fire trigger kit for it.

All and all though it is pretty neat.

      • TexAg14 says:

It is closed bolt, not open bolt. They have to make/import guns that were originally designed as open bolt in a closed bolt configuration for the very reason that open bolt is to easy to convert. Century arms has been importing a semi auto/closed bolt RPD for awhile.

        • straps says:

Yeah I presumed as much, likely meaning a totally different feel.

          Dream killer.

  7. Alex says:

I’m a very big fan of Colt and I was ecstatic when they used the M4 and M4A1 roll marks but I see FN is taking it further with the safe-semi-full markings. Kudos to them and I appreciate a company that takes these little things into consideration.

  8. AbnMedOps says:

I think I will avoid “collecting” the ones marked “FULL”. I see nothing good coming of these (mis)-markings, unless you think being hauled out of bed and having your house trashed by a SWAT team acting on a tip, then spending days in jail while the little misunderstanding is cleared up, is somehow a good thing.

    • SSD says:

They can raid your house any day on a “tip”.

    • Erik says:

EHRMRGOD! FULL AUTO MARKINGS!? FN really isn’t really breaking new ground with this; plenty of lowers out there with it. Considering your selector switch should firmly stop on semi, I don’t see the big deal here.

    • Darrel says:

Uhhh, you realize there are a plethora of manufacturers releasing lowers with “FULL” markings on them, right? I seriously doubt anyone is going to eye rape your AR for that four letter word and tip off the cops without actually hearing you fire automatically.

      • AbnMedOps says:

Darrel -nope, I did not realize that. If manufacturers are doing that, it seems rather silly and “wanna-be”-ish, but different strokes I guess.

  9. Oglee says:

According to the photo those are the wrong ambi safeties.

The correct one has a half size right side selector. The ambi M4A1 safety does not use 2 full size selectors.

    • SSD says:

And, thank you for NOT reading the story.

      • Oglee says:

I read the story, just don’t see how FNH can use Colts ambi safety in the civilian market. Maybe they can, but I doubt it.

  10. James says:

Surprised by the comments here. Gun owners are our own worst enemies. We should be fully supporting FNH releasing these.

I say way to go FNH hopefully other companies will follow suit and release other products formally sold mil/le only.

  11. Darrel says:

Absolutely cannot wait to see what interesting aftermarket parts come up for these 249s. Pistol grips, slidefire stocks with hydraulic buffers, keymod, and of course, light, speedy triggers.

  12. Henrik says:

Anti gunners use divide and conquer. They wont rest until even airguns and toyguns are illegal.
