Poll – Should SSD Close The Comments Section?

Friday, October 10th, 2014

I’ve been mulling this over for awhile and the past few days have been over the top. SSD was created to educate readers on the goings on in the tactical industry and share things I found interesting. Lately, the comment section has become a magnet for disrespectful discourse and outright lies.

Spam I can live with, but the constant stream of dick measurers, internet experts, shills and trolls are getting to be a bit much. What do you guys think?

WASHINGTON — Making sure those serving in the nation’s armed forces and diplomatic service receive their presents and care packages in time for the holidays is a priority for the U.S. Postal Service and for friends and family members of military and diplomatic personnel serving around the world. Use the Military Care Kit to Send Presents and/or Care Packages
With Priority Mail supplies as the packaging of choice for families preparing care packages for service members overseas, the Postal Service created a free “Military Care Kit” based on the items most frequently requested by military families.

Addressing the Package
1. Write out the service member’s full name in the address.

Time For Your Quarterly Counseling

Monday, September 29th, 2014

SSD is reaching more people than ever. Unfortunately, it seems that all too many of these folks think this is Facebook or a forum or some other Internet playground where they they can talk smack without any repercussions.

“I’m going to go on SSD and talk $hit about everything today.”

If that’s your mission statement, find something else to do.

The Internet dehumanizes. Don’t let it happen to you.

SSD only has a couple of rules and those are very simple.

-Whether you praise or criticize, provide substance.

-Don’t say anything on SSD that you wouldn’t say to the person’s face.

That’s it. Move out and draw fire.

MDM – Marathon Targets

Tuesday, September 23rd, 2014

Marathon Targets offers smart targets for Live-Fire training. These autonomous, wheeled targets offer the ability to engage moving targets. Think of it as a four-in-one system. It can be used as a stationary target, pop-up target, left to right movers or autonomous moving targets.

The targets incorporate speakers and can move up to 12 mph on puncture proof tires. When properly engaged it works as a pop-up target and will go down which is programmable for the number of shots in the torso/head as well as how long it remains down. The most interesting aspect of the target is that when used in conjunction with one another, if one is successfully engaged, the others can be configured to scatter.

(Yep, budgets were so tight when I was in 3rd Group that we could only afford 3-digit team numbers.)

Did you ever get that pipeline? I’m not going to write anything. As a former SOT-A guy, I’m just curious. Don’t answer here, send me an email.
