“Freedom Isn’t Free” Cooler to Benefit the Navy SEAL Foundation

Monday, May 6th, 2013

1) Cooler_front

Our friends at MATBOCK have come up with a really cool fundraising idea. They have a buddy who makes custom coolers and approached him about doing a 100% Made in USA cooler with a military theme in order to raise funds for the Navy SEAL Foundation.

A lot of work went into this build. Here you can see the up close, the illustrations burned into the wood.

As an added bonus, the winner will be able to decide what he wants added to the lid.

10) Cooler_Top

They’ve also added a few embellishments to keep with the theme.

This is going to look great in my backyard so go out there and win it as a donation for the SSD home office!

Here’s how it works. Visit the auction on eBay.

How to enter
1) Make your bid and check back to ensure you are the highest bidder
2) Give us a Like on Facebook – Visit MATBOCK on Facebook

Details
– The winner will have the opportunity to pick from three other drawings to complete the top of the cooler or they can submit their own idea to be placed on the top. (this is why we have a longer handling time)
– The cooler will arrive before memorial day weekend
– The auction will last 7 days and ends on 13 May.
– 100% of your bid will be donated to the Navy SEAL Foundation
– MATBOCK will pay for UPS ground shipping

The theme for this cooler is “Freedom isn’t free” because so often we forget the daily sacrifices that people all around the world make to ensure our freedom. Usually only during key events or holidays do people (sadly including us) think about these sacrifices. With this hand built 100% USA made cooler on your porch, patio or even in your garage, you will remember the daily sacrifice, not to mention 100% of your donation will go towards the Navy SEAL Foundation to help the families of the men who have made the ultimate sacrifice. Retail for this cooler is over $900, so lets start bidding!

Daniel Defense and Military Warrior Support Foundation Give Away Home at NRA 2013

Sunday, May 5th, 2013

With the 142nd NRA Annual Meetings & Exhibits underway, Daniel Defense recognizes the sacrifices made by the men and women of the United States Armed Forces. Their continued efforts protect the way of life enjoyed by Americans throughout the generations. This year, Daniel Defense was honored to present a combat veteran and his family with the gift of a mortgage-free home. “I am amazed by the bravery these soldiers demonstrate in the field,” says Marty Daniel, President and CEO of Daniel Defense. “We can’t thank them enough for their sacrifice.”

Through the Military Warriors Support Foundation, Daniel Defense learned of a Soldier, awarded three Purple Hearts during his time of service. SFC Jonathan David Langford sustained multiple injuries during two deployments, including a blast concussion, broken ribs, shrapnel and traumatic brain injury. “What we want to provide is hope for these warriors and their families,” explains Josh Kinser of Military Warrior Support Foundation. “By partnering with great, patriotic companies like Daniel Defense, we are able to put these heroes in a mortgage-free home and help them transition to a successful civilian life.”

The donation was a complete surprise to the Langfords. Daniel Defense gave away a rifle on Saturday afternoon. A crowd gathered around the Booth (#2111) where SFC Jonathan Langford and family were invited to draw the winning name. Immediately following the announcement, attendees were asked to remain for a special announcement. It was there, Mr. Langford and his wife were told they were the recipients of a home located in the Florida town where they would settle after leaving the service.

The surprises did not end there. Working in conjunction with Texas Trophy Hunters Association and Trophy Hunters TV, the Langford’s were also elated to learn of an opportunity to hunt during the filming of a TV show.

Quaff with Smith Optics and S&S Precision at SOFIC to Honor Shady

Friday, May 3rd, 2013

Join Smith Optics and S&S Precision at SOFIC for the 2013 Gelande Quaffing Grudge Match to Honor Brett “Shady” Shadel. There will also be a silent auction.

Gelande Quaffing Grudge Match

Not sure what this whole Gelände Quaffing thing is all about? Read this and then check out the video.

In 1986, the skis were skinny and the snow was fat, during a 14 foot storm, the infamous underground crew of the Jackson Hole Air Force was going stir crazy in the Bear Claw Café, waiting for the mountain to open. In those days the bartender would send a freshly filled beer mug sliding down the bar to the patron who ordered it. One fateful night a beer mug slid off the end of the bar, took air, was caught seconds before a glass shattering catastrophe, and promptly pounded. Gelände Quaffing was born. Apres’ ski competitions followed, testing the unique skills of all who entered, and provided exciting entertainment for all spectators. But somewhere along the way Gelände Quaffing was lost and the après ski spirit forgotten.

Silent Professional Auction: A Special Operations Forces Charity Event Sets Fundraising Goal of $100,000

Tuesday, April 30th, 2013

Last week I told you to ‘like’ the Silent Professional Auction page on Facebook. Over the past few days they’ve announced the items they’ll be auctioning off in support of SOF charities. The list is as impressive as it is expansive.

Created by Combat Flip Flops, The Macalan Group and Intelligent Waves, the Silent Professional Auction, taking place online May 1-15, 2013, aims to raise $100,000 for the following Special Operations Forces charities:

The Green Beret Foundation
Lead the Way Foundation
The Station Foundation
Team 5
Gold Star Memories
Tommy V Foundation (all proceeds benefit Brett ‘Shady’ Schadle’s family)

The online auction, held at www.24fundraiser.com/site/store/5, will be open to bidding from May 1st through the 15th with 100% of the proceeds going directly to the above SOF charities. This is not your ordinary auction – items found here are one-of-a-kind collector’s items, bucket list experiences, rare tactical gear and memorabilia. The following is a partial list of included items:

Viking Tactics Training Course, $10,000 value
UAV Swiper, $20,000 value
Bullet Art Busts, $500 value
LEAF Arc’teryx alpine jacket, $850 value

“Recently, I was reminded that ‘abundance’ is a constant circle of giving and receiving. This country and industry are blessed with abundance because of those that have given so much for us. The Silent Professional Auction is our opportunity as an industry to give back – it’s their turn to receive,” said Matthew Griffin, CEO, Combat Flip Flops.

There will also be an additional fundraising event held at SOFIC (Special Operations Forces Industry Conference) in Tampa on on May 15th at the Mad Monkey from 8pm – 12am. $100 dollars at the door gets you access to the top shelf open bar (sponsored by TMG, CFF and IW) and the ability to win raffle items not included in the online auction. The $100 entry fee is a 501c3 tax deductible dnation with receipt given at the time of entry. This event and the auction are open to the public. For details, please contact Kym Goddu at xo@silentprofessional.org.

The need for supporting our SOF soldiers is greater than ever with the increase in mental and physical injuries sustained over the years and their impacts on these soldiers and their families. This auction is a sincere attempt by Combat Flip Flops, The Macalan Group, and Intelligent Waves to recognize the support that people and companies inherently display for SOF families and to provide them an opportunity to donate to worthwhile charities that offer aid.
