Dueck Defense Expands Rapid Transition Sight Line

Wednesday, November 28th, 2012

Dueck Defense, makers of the Rapid Transition Sight have added a couple of new options. The RTS as originally developed by pro shooter and former Marine Barry Dueck consists of removable M4-style front and rear sights designed to mount at a 45° offset so that the carbine can be rolled off the primary sight to the RTS. The Mil Std 1913 compatible RTS can be used as back up iron sights (BUIS) or for close in engagements when using a powered optic for distance shots.

Regardless of model, they all feature a common rear sight as found on the M16A2/M4 with adjustable drum as well as the same front sight tower found on those weapons. Both right and left versions are available and now they’ve introduced two new options.

This is the Fiber Optic Sightlink version. Sightlink is manufactured by Mounting Solutions Plus and incorporates a fiber optic insert in Red, Yellow or Green.

The model above integrates the Trijicon Bright & Tough Night Sights.

In addition to purchasing the RTS reconfigured with these new sight options, you could also change out the standard GI-type sight components to use these or other sight inserts.

Barry Dueck comes up with some great weapons parts. This time, he’s introduced the Rapid Latch for use with FN SLP and Winchester Super X shotguns. It just made loading these shotguns a whole lot easier.

Caveat Emptor – Counterfeit Dueck Defense RTS Sights

Wednesday, March 21st, 2012

Be aware, there are currently a number of counterfeit Dueck Defense RTS Sights currently being sold on eBay, apparently being marketed at the MilSim community (no, not interested in an all-encompassing “Airsofters are evil” diatribe). We first mentioned the Dueck RTS in Dec of 2010. Effectively, they can work as backup sights or as dedicated transition sights for close in targets when your carbine is equipped with a scope. In fact, the RTS replicates the M16-style front and rear sight system many are used to from their time training with issue weapons just mounted on a 45 deg offset.

If you’re looking to purchase one, ensure you are getting the real thing. Dueck Defense RTS Sights are made in the USA and are ISO Certified.  You can find the real thing on the Dueck Defense website or through SureFire.

Here’s a video of the sights in action:

Rapid Transition Sight from Dueck Defense

Friday, December 3rd, 2010

Barry Dueck, head of SureFire’s Suppressor program, nationally ranked 3-Gun competition shooter and former Marine developed the Rapid Transition Sight for the competitive or combat shooter who prefers separate sighting systems for near and far targets. With a goal of not adding weight he settled on the M4 sights, engineering them to mount to the upper Picatinny rail but at an offset of 45° to avoid conflicting with the primary sight. Since most everyone already carries a Back Up Iron Sight of one form or another as well as relies on the standard M4-style Front Sight, the RTS adds no new weight and essentially offsets these items to be more effective for close in targets when rifle mounts a telescopic sight for those mid and long distance shots. Many shooters are also very comfortable with the issue M4 sights so there is no issue associated with learning a new system and the you don’t have to deal with co-witnessing sights.
