Looks impressive, especially for the price! What functional difference will there be between this helmet and a similarly configured Ops-Core or Crye Airframe helmet? Just weight, or is there more to it that I’m not seeing?

Omg want. O – o Glad to see Gentex pumping fresh blood into the helmet field, liking the cross breeding with the Ops Core and the MICH going on here.

Not so much “helmet love” here. The original “Kevlar” (PASSGT) protected roughly 10% more of the skull than all these “improved”, abbreviated helmet designs, from MICH onwards. I have never quite accepted the rationale for that switch.

Since our recent combat casualty experience has been skewed towards vehicle/IED casualties, it’s hard to statistically determine if 10% less head coverage directly translates into 10% more injuries, or 10% more pieces of lead and steel stuck into young men’s brains, in a force vs. force fight. All things considered, in a small arms and arty rich fight, I gotta think more head coverage would be a better thing.

The PASGT helmet had too much of a “bell” effect causing echoing w/in the helmet as it covered the ears too much. Ballistic effects on the PASGT were also horrible compared to newer gen helmets. Weight was another problem, along w/the helmet digging into the back of the neck b/c of the design. While a lot of these problems are resolved w/an upgraded system, the PASGT is an inferior system compared to the newer ones.

I’d be more digging it if it came with the ops core h-nape harness like in the PDF, as opposed the cheesedick looking one it has-

Apparently, you’ve got a problem with reading comprehension. It is available with the Ops-Core chinstrap, x or h style.

  5. Taylor says:

Love the price for a full package on this, and with all the color options

Seems great, but they don’t seem to want sales. Can’t get a return on a quote request.
