SOFIC – FN America SCAR Mk 20 in .260 Remington

As I walked through the FN America Booth at SOFIC I ran across this gem. That’s right, .260 Remington.

FN America continues to develop new capabilities, just in case a requirement comes up.

I wonder if the commanlities between the 260 and it’s parent case, the 308, will ultimately win it over the 6.5CM. Seems like with minor differences in performance will be outweighed by ease of tooling up mass manufacture.

    • PNWTO says:

.260 already has a presence in the field with users and has replaced .308 in several platforms, will be interesting to see how the studies that are being done wind up.

      • Joshua says:

        CRANE killed the SCAR.

All funding has been pulled and no .260 barrel will change that.

        • PNWTO says:

I was speaking to the cartridge in use, be it Larue, SCAR, or other COTS.

The whole SCAR thing was a little underwhelming, IMO.

Sofic is giving me winning AIDS. The base SCAR is….a’ight. But the Mk. 20 is handy and .260 is like cheating. I like 6.5 CMR more in a bolt action.

Is it coated in a FDE color or are my eyes screwed?

Looks like just blasted stainless steel to me, but the lighting may have just been funny in the exhibition hall.

Always happy to see the SCAR platform. It excites me.
