Congolese Anti-Poaching Rangers Choose Sierra Designs Packs

Here you can see photos of Virunga National Park Rangers on an anti-poaching patrol. They serve as part of the Congolese Wildlife Authority (Institut Congolais pour la Conservation de la Nature, ICCN). Apparently, Sierra Designs‘ off-the-shelf “Gator” color is a perfect match for the Congo jungle.

Wild how that blends in so nicely!

They didn’t do it for the color, they did it for the budget. They can’t afford the $$$$ backpacks that are covered here.

Interesting adaptation of an old set of m56 suspenders as a sling in that first picture.

Looks like they made a great decision for an important job. If those SD packs make the troop’s job easier, more power to them. Their version of RFI/COTS.

I love it. They put some real thought into choosing these and found an economical answer to a problem that fit their budget and their need. U.S. take note.
