Happy Thanksgiving from Mayflower and SSD!

Today is Thanksgiving here in the US, a day when we commemorate the hardships of early settlers of our great land. We also take time to reflect on pur own trials and triumphs. Aptly enough, Mayflower Research and Consulting has provided a prize pack consisting of their new Assault Pack and a UW Gen IV Chest Rig. Both are in MultiCam and made from LiteLok fabric.

I am thankful that i live in a country that still has men and women willing to dedicate their lives to Defending the freedoms and security of our Nation. Too often we forget that In this world we have walls and those walls have to be guarded by men with guns. Being a soldier isn’t something you decide to do, its something your Made to do. The Country doesn’t make the man, the Man makes the country, and I’m Damn Proud to live in a country that is made great by Great men. I thank God for those who walk the night, who only evil need fear, men who stand ready to do battle on Other’s behalf. I am thankful for my Father and my Uncle who served this country in the United States Marine Corps. True Courage is being scared to death and Saddling up anyway. ~ John Wayne

This past year when my best friend was killed in combat I received a lot of support during my transition from deployment to the rear.
We were able to reach out to my friend’s mourning family and my entire unit was able to connect with them through the time of mourning.

Today, I can only attempt to express how thankful I am for my close friends and family, who have worked to lift my spirits over the course of the past year as I struggled to overcome a period of serious depression and substance abuse. Their love has given me the strength needed to overcome these obstacles in my life, and I can only hope that I can repay their kindness in some small manner by working to keep them and others safe in the years to come.

  38. Matt M. says:

What am I grateful for? I find it simply awesome to be back in my home country after a 2nd year abroad. However, it is hard to feel grateful for many things beyond being alive and having the ability to see ones family and friends. To enjoy the simple pleasures of life. I am grateful for having the privilege being able to experience these things and live out the rest of my days, both good and bad. Grateful for the sacrifice of two of my comrades, as well as many more over this last decade and the untold thousands who have stepped forward to defend our country that came before me and paid the ultimate price.

Enjoy Valhalla my brothers (and sisters). You who have given so much. Rest assured that those you left behind will continue the lonely watch at the edge of darkness.

  46. Doc says:

I am thankful for all the rights and privileges that have been accorded me as an American citizen.

I am thankful to live in a country where a man (or woman) can rise from the humblest of roots to running the country.

I am thankful for the US Army which, while we’ve had our “moments” with each other: enabled me to earn a college degree when I had no money to do so; has allowed me to provide for my family; gave me a way to pay back the country I believe in even during a time when I am disappointed in the majority of my countrymen; and through association with some great NCOs and officers (and plenty of bad ones) has allowed me to discover and define what it means, to me, to be a man.

Lastly, I am thankful for my family, which has been there for me… even when I couldn’t be there for them due to the Army’s demands.

    Cheers, all!
