Question. If Battle helmets is designed to protect the modern US Soldier from blast, shrapnel, etc; why is there a need to have a padded case to protect a helmet? Its like saying we need to have a padded case with all of the bells and whistles to protect a Firefighters helmet, hard hat, etc.
If you want to protect vital equipment like GPS, NVG’s then make the cases. The Israeli’s have a non-padded helmet carrier built into their packs, so why is there a need?
I agree with your point, however there is a trade-off. Due to their material composition, new, more fragment resistant helmets are not “hard” like the ACH and are more easily damaged.
