SureFire has released some additional info on the model 2211 WristLight that we first mentioned during SHOT Show.
It’s a very specialized piece of kit and I just don’t see everyone using one of these. Some folks are going to love it, particularly those that can’t use mounted weapon lights. However, the activation won’t be nearly as convenient as a weapon mounted light.
As you can see, it will be charged via a USB port at the rear of the light. You’ll also see that the light is angled. This is so it will shine forward when you are holding a weapon and not reflect back at you off of the back of the hand.
It’s a very cool capability but I have a feeling that it’s going to find it’s real niche in a different application than paired with a pistol. What that is, at this point I don’t know, but once they’re out there users will come up with all kinds of applications.

Although I do work for another light company, I have been watching this since lasts years intro at the NTOA show. Do they assume everyone works in short sleeve shirts? No one wears a jacket? After watching the hokey video, I wonder, how do you shut it off with a gun in your other hand?
499.99? I believe we have just seen surefire “jump the shark” It was conceived with a accelerometer and a gyro in it, now that it is just a light, why 500 bones? I am sure there is already a knock off for 25.00 hitting the streets in Hong Kong as this is written.
I’m lactose intolerant, and the cheesiness of that video made me feel nauseated.

I WOULD have dropped $500 on it with motion/ drawstroke activation and a watch as the prototype showed. But they’re abso-fucking-lutely nuts to try and sell a $500 rechargable wrist mounted flashlight. Way to fuck up a good idea Surefire. I guess something has to pay for all that sound suppressor R&D. Please extricate your head from your 4th point of contact…
500 bones…it looks like it would be great especially if you add blue, red, and IR…even with that it would still be too expensive. I was about to find where I could get it until I saw the price and said fuck it.

I saw something like this in Star Trek Voyager. It looks like a useful tool if a headlamp is impractical, for example repeatedly flagging people every time you turn towards something. Mechanics may be some use out of this, but it’s way overpriced.
Y.T. the lights you are talking about were called “SIMs Beacons” They were build by Alan James Sims the property master for that shows art department. Ironically that light was built form a pair of Surefire flash lights mated together with an elastic band.

That video was the biggest load of bullsh1# i’ve ever seen. If this product had all the original inclusions the concept model had I’d buy one. $500 for a light? Sure-fire are dreaming!

Even the best companies have “Dilbert” moments. I won’t be needing one of these, but they’re still a great company.
The pricetag will certainly limit it’s niche market, especially when a person can clip a $1.99 LED light onto his watch-band.

I can see where you would want to light the area without muzzle flashing everyone like you would on a weapon-mounted light. And $500 isn’t plausible for the general public for a light.
And I would like to see how well it works with a carbine.

As an ice climber, I think one of these on each wrist would be absolutely awesome. I’m sure as hell not dropping $1000 on a pair though! Maybe they will make a hard plastic version down the road. I’d also rather have batteries than USB port for charging.
I have been asking around Hong King and Macau for something like this.
Found the, at the cost of $60 (US) they have a lithium battery x 2 and give out a High light LED of 1 watt. Colors are red, blue, orange, white. There is no IR available
