  1. Andrew smith says:

I have to say I absolutely loved the recent posting and educational moment regarding the tactical chaplain. Personnel from my command frequently discuss getting free stuff from vendors…. I was debating sending out guidance but you summed it up quite well. Thanks and appreciate the great work.

  2. Alex says:

My favorite articles are the extensive SHOT coverage.

  3. John B says:

Hard to pick just one favorite. I enjoy all the coverage, from firearms to camo. The articles are straight forward and very informative. Keep up the good work.

  4. Wahya says:

I became an avid reader of SSD because of your amazing coverage of SHOT show. I appreciate all of the write-ups for those of us who can’t make it out there in person. Keep up the great work and congratulations on making 10K!!!

  5. DA says:

I’d have to dig really deep to find my favorite, so I’ll just hyperlink the category – https://soldiersystems.net/category/gunfighter-moment/

I stumbled into SSD doing an AR build, and it was love at first article. That being the case I always enjoy product updates and the “on a budget” (that one I quickly fell off as soon as discovering this site) tags, and the trade show posts.. but Gunfighter Moments are always very good.

  6. Andrew says:

https://soldiersystems.net/2009/09/04/so-tech-medical-sale/ I still had this Bookmarked. It was the first article I read on your webpage and I have been reading almost daily since. It also allowed me to get some gear on sale for a side project of mine.

    Congrats on 10,000.

  7. Dirtbag says:

I like all of the Army Camo Improvement Effort updates. Its nice to be kept up to date and some of the fog lifted on the mas confusion that it has become.

  8. Resabed says:

I was a big fan of the whole Mountain workshop series (below). I’m kind of a whore for military mountaineering; it really doesn’t get as much attention as it should, especially given that we’ve been fighting in the mountains for 13 years…

    https://soldiersystems.net/2013/02/21/2nd-annual-military-mountain-and-cold-weather-work-shop/

  9. tom says:

I love OR show report, since that’s the only big show I can’t attend, yet so closed to my heart – everything you reported ends up on my door step which is very bad for my wallet.

Keep up awesome work, SSD is excellent site as always.
    -Tom

  10. Jason says:

I keep coming back to this fundamental post from the Gunfighter series, this one is with LAV –

    https://soldiersystems.net/2013/11/02/gunfighter-moment-larry-vickers-15/

You HAVE to keep checking your zero people.

Thanks for all the great work SSD!

  11. Patrick says:

I enjoyed the series of articles that have covered the army’s uniform improvement program and hopefully soon my new favorite article will be the one telling me when I can purchase/wear multicam as my new uniform

  12. Mike Nomad says:

Because of this web site, I’ve learned so much about both what I know I didn’t know, along with what I didn’t know I didn’t know, that singling out a particular article cheapens the others. SSD has a great site, along with a lot of great people that participate. However, there are rules. So…

    https://soldiersystems.net/2013/12/28/gunfighter-moment-mike-pannone-16/

It’s the first Gunfighter Moment w/ Mike Pannone I’ve seen that doesn’t include a sub-thread about the pants he’s wearing #8^)

Mr. SSD, Congratulations on hitting 10K.

  13. Nathan says:

https://soldiersystems.net/2010/12/14/family-of-camo-patterns-solicitation/ The article really drew me in showing the differences between the different families.

  14. Mike says:

An oldie, the write-up you did on sugru. https://soldiersystems.net/2011/03/03/diy-hack-the-planet-with-sugru/ I know it was a couple of years ago, but I use sugru all the time. Congrats on 10,000 posts, looking forward to the future.

  15. chris says:

Dude I like all of them not just 1 of them, but right now its tactical chaplain.

  16. DJK, Esq. says:

I am torn between “This Guy Brings a Sword to a Gunfight” and the “Tactical Chaplain” articles, because they both made me feel better about myself. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to solicit free gear for my forthcoming instructional video series, “Combat Pen-Fighting for Tactical JAGs.”

  17. Mike B says:

I have many favorites, but the the Noveske saga that continues is one I look forward to keeping updated on

  18. Markwtf says:

I especially like the Shot Show coverage the best! I think a close second is the Gunfighter Moments with Larry Vickers, and recently Kyle Defoor articles.
I also appreciate the coverage on the Noveske family. RIP John!
Congrats on 10k and keep it up!

  19. AmmoKan says:

    https://soldiersystems.net/2013/11/26/crye-precision-releases-new-multicam-patterns-and-reinvents-website/

This was one of my favorites this year. I had been looking forward to seeing Crye’s new patterns and they did not disappoint. I also liked following the camo debacle on SSD, as all I’ve read has been based in fact and not drummed up for views.

  20. Trace says:

Your articles following the Shot Show every year is fantastic as I am not able to make it. It keeps me in the loop for whats in bound and whether I should purchase new kit or wait a short season.

Then there are all the other articles filled with hot tips and plenty of crap, too
Look forward to this years shot show.. im on the verge of buying a cuben fiber tarp in realtree… but want to see if there is newer better gear awaiting!

  21. C2 says:

Some of your best posts were on Disruptive Thinking and Disruptive Tech. These posts not only challenge the status quo in the industry, but force us to consider dynamic ideas/tech that may have huge impacts.

  22. Axe1477 says:

    https://soldiersystems.net/2013/12/28/gunfighter-moment-mike-pannone-16/#comments

Gotta go with Mike Pannone’s concealed carry article. I posted it up at work for all to read.

  23. ikt2505 says:

The best post that had the greatest impact on me was Inside Combat Rescue. Wednesday, December 5th, 2012. https://soldiersystems.net/2012/12/05/inside-combat-rescue/ I had recently seperated from the Army when I viewed the video associated with this particular post. I was working for Lockeed Martin at the time, but yearning still for the military life. This video made me realize my calling was the military and I reenlisted in the Air Force and eventually went into AF Special Operations. I attribute that decision to join to this post on SSD. I have read SSD everyday, multiple times a day for years now. It has helped me buy gear, make informed decisions, stay up on current trends, and above all, helped me make a life changing decision. Thanks SSD for all the great articles and posts, keep it up.

  24. Paul says:

It’s hard to pick just one of course. The unending camouflage story is by far my latest thread, but I also really enjoyed this article about pistol marksmanship.

    https://soldiersystems.net/2013/07/27/gunfighter-moment-mike-pannone-11/

Keep up the great work !

  25. Grill says:

I like this post, the one I’m commenting on. It shows how far you’ve come and the support of an industry behind you. Congratulations!

    https://soldiersystems.net/2014/01/09/10000-posts/

    -Grill

  26. Jones says:

My favorites would be all the updates from big army. Like the unicorns we won’t be getting. And the trainer spotlights are great too. Thanks for a great read every day.

  27. Math Teacher says:

I really like when you show new products from different expos. I was really interested in the Pat’s Backcountry Beer maker from the Outdoor Retailer expo. I can’t wait to get one for the next time I go camping and make my own beer right there on the spot. Keep up the good work guys!

  28. Mandaloin says:

I think this is my favorite article: https://soldiersystems.net/2012/08/31/no-stock-needed/

Just for the sheer hilarity of it. Gecko45 would be proud.

  29. Judd says:

The “Mindset Series” – Canipe Correspondence, Gunfighter Moments, Corps Strength. Constant reminders to train harder and focus on the details in the quest for perfection.

  30. MED says:

This is one of my all time favorites. Why, because this is where we are at:
    https://soldiersystems.net/2013/03/04/you-know-the-worlds-gone-to-ht-when/

  31. Adam says:

    https://soldiersystems.net/2013/02/14/army-camo-improvement-whats-up/

Just to pick one covering the Army Camoflauge Improvement Effort. This one was written while it was still believed there would be an announcement. There was hope. Apparently the Army was never ready, at least while the window was open; sorry soldiers.

SSD helps keep me informed. I really like what you do.

  32. Nigel says:

Well done on 10,000 posts, here’s to the next 10,000

  33. Kevin says:

    My favorite is this post

    https://soldiersystems.net/2014/01/09/10000-posts/#more-72634

Keep the posts coming. I check it more than the news.

  34. Seth says:

My favorite articles are the ones focused on gear, weapons, and industry specific worldly events. In order to maintain my edge here on the pointy end, I am constantly updating my gear and TTP’s. SSD (in conjunction with other sites) allows me to do this on a daily basis in an easy to do manner. If I had to pick one off the top of my head I would say that it was the article informing of the release of the BCM KMR13 that I have been anxiously awaiting. Thanks and have a good day.

  35. Funtimes says:

I think the most used article that I had this year was the Tactical Black Friday. I swear I wore my bookmark button out coming here just checking out what was going down at different places. It was this post: https://soldiersystems.net/2013/11/25/tactical-black-friday-2014-the-list/

Had I not have seen it, I wouldn’t have gotten my LBT bags on such a good steal.

What I like is the variety of stuff that comes across here. News, sales, deals, cool shit, tips, and so forth. Keep it up man! 10k is an awesome milestone.

  36. Luke says:

I like everything (I check several times a day :),but I particularly like the training industry posts and anything related to competition shooting.

Oh and all the great shot show coverage you do each year!

  37. Brian says:

Eric by far the best read and info for all us Tactical guy’s and you ROCK!!!

  38. Kris says:

    https://soldiersystems.net/2013/03/31/never-underestimate-russian-weapon-designs/

Enjoyed the things Russians do with weapons humor. Never thought about opening beer with a pistol or cooking toast on a buttstock.

  39. Reed says:

I have enjoyed all you little pearls of history and encouragement about the Boy Scout of America. I am an Eagle Scout as well and have enjoyed helping my boys work towards that rank and all that goes with it.

I also look forward to the “Gunfighters Moment”. I am a firearms instructor for my police department and enjoy reading and incorporating the skills and thoughts of your many guest writers into our training to encourage each officer to become a gunfighter or at least adopt that mindset.

  40. rezqme says:

You had me rolling when I saw these featured here on SSD.
    https://soldiersystems.net/2012/09/06/get-your-ak-47-standing-lamps/

  41. USMColdawg says:

I did enjoy the analysis on camo patterns; especially with the US4CES articles. I know that was submitted by Hyperstealth/Guy Cramer but you affording that attention to your readers was very stimulating. I do enjoy the banter on the forums as well. I am still waiting for you to provide the option on editing posts.

Good luck with this website and I saw Lone Survivor last night and it is a must see. Very emotional movie.

  42. USMColdawg says:

BTW, it is my birthday on Monday – Hint Hint! lol.

  43. Joe Flowers says:

I don’t have a single favorite–once every few days I am blown away by some new product you announce; at the moment I’m still drooling over the KMR rails by BCM. But I like the gunfighter moments a lot. There are also a lot of things I appreciate that I wouldn’t if I didnt read about it here (camo stuff, Gera reviews from bloggers, etc.).

  44. Mike K. says:

    https://soldiersystems.net/2012/09/30/larue-tactical-offering-backpack-shield-level-iiia-ballistic-plate/

In today’s growing age of active shooter incidents this really spoke to me since I have two children. Both of my children’s back packs have a pull out level three chest insert and level three sewn in the back so they have front and back protection as needed. While unfortunate and sad I find this to be the reality of today.

This article gave me the motivation to help protect my kids when I can’t be there.

  45. cy says:

I have to say the coverage of the Army camouflage debacle. It has been years of disappointment. Thank you for keeping us informed and often enraged. SSD is the best!

  46. SGT Rock says:

I would have to say my favorite article/s have to deal with the special projects that involve memorial funds designed to help the families of fallen warriors. Very few people have little clue about how much these service members and their families sacrifice in the service and defense of our nation. Thank you SSD for bringing this subject to light and helping out these families.

  47. Tbone40x says:

I like this article from Mike Pannone: https://soldiersystems.net/2013/11/09/gunfighter-moment-mike-pannone-15/

Good point on always trying to end on a high note. The mental game is a large part of winning.

  48. Rob says:

SSD is my daily go to site. Any article MATBOCK related is always a favorite! No “and why?” needed. There gear is always inovative, spot on and get it done the best way possible. The only problem in the past was getting there stuff in your hands, not so much recently though.

If you take MATBOCK out of the equation the FLIR ONE article has me very interested.

  49. Otis says:

My favorite post was actually pretty recent and sums up why I go to Soldier Systems, every day, multiple times a day.

    https://soldiersystems.net/2013/11/26/crye-precision-releases-new-multicam-patterns-and-reinvents-website/

There is no other comparable site on the internet that has the same quality, quality and range of articles about, military acquisition, firearms and other similar stories. Thank you so much SSD and stay cool.

  50. John M says:

Cool stuff, great commentary, keep it up!
