So the weight on the original MOE carbine hand guard is less than this new one. (9.5 vs 6.8 ounces)

I always thought of a the MOE as a great light weight cheap alternative. Scratch off light weight.

The old version of the midlenght is 8.6 ounces. What will the new midlenght weigh??

My guess is that it’s beefed up to be MLOK compatible and also because it’s considerably long (it goes fully around the sight tower). That could easily explain the couple ounces of difference.

This at 10.5 ounces would be the way to go…

If you overlook the major cost difference. Plus with that rail you get rid of the delta ring, spring and hand guard cap.

The weight listed was from a rough swag in development and somehow missed updating. The actual weight of the MOE SL forend is 6.75 oz, just put one on the OHAUS to verify, so yes, it’s still lightweight, despite the additional length.

  5. SPQR476 says:

The stock weighs about 9.6 oz. It’s 1/2 oz heavier than the CTR due to the more robust butt pad and the extra length to cover A5/.308 length tubes.
