Meh.
I’ll be the jerk…I got a weird vibe from this.
The Dynamic Pie Concepts-ish voice over doesn’t help.
At least a couple of the guys have beards, in their company photos.
Like I said…I’m the phallus.
I agree, while I feel technology is a good thing, I believe that it also serves as a distraction as well. Last thing you want is your squad leader focused on a phone strapped to his arm while the feed is going in an out when its time to make a move. Just looks like the removal of traditional tactics and delaying of deployment of forces when time is critical…..
Like the people on busy sidewalks, looking down more than forward. Increased situational awareness? Perhaps, perhaps not. If you rely on this system and you hit a moment of feed error, people are going to delay.
Simplicity works, maybe not as efficient- but consistently.
All great obs.
I’m jumping back in. I watched that vid, again. Here are some of the things that makes them lose cred with their target audience:
– Throttle back on the buzzwords, guys.
– “Second window on the right” isn’t typical nomenclature/reference method for identifying structural windows/doors/etc.
– 1-man moving with weapon cheeked, looking at the world through his sight.
– 2-man neither online with, nor moving with muzzle pushed past, 1-man, yet he was still “up.”
– The C2 guy working the radio..funny.
– Entry was…”lacking” [Dominate, eliminate, control, (deadcheck in Mil), Search, Search, HUTS, etc.]
Mostly, though, this is just a distraction. It takes the LEO’s (I refuse to use “operator” in this case…I hate that f-ing word) attention from the world. It will cause leadership to crawl up the asses of their men. Information overload.
It’s an attempt to know everything, when that isn’t the problem…. Like a chess player who sees his whole battlefield, yet makes errors, trying to get the whole picture to solve your problem isn’t the solution. You can know everything you need to know but that doesn’t prevent you from stepping on your johnson.
F it. It’s Labor Day. I’m going on a beach run, then drinking a beer.
One of the principles at Kopis is a former SEAL. I was stationed with him at SOCPAC and worked with him at Blackwater. I’ve known him a long time and I also know that he didn’t want these videos to be used as a TTP lesson for bad guys.
Yeah…OK.
I’m curious, is this something you would ever use?
Ah yes…the siren call of “near-perfect situational awareness” delivered by the latest bit of technical wizardry.
Still these types of systems have their utility. If used judiciously.
Maybe we should just train to a high enough standard that we can “go” with confidence and despite less than optimum intelligence and whether the gizmos work or not?
But then again I’m just a dinosaur and YMMV.
If i cant get a 148 or even a harris to not randomly drop fill then how on earth is this going to be any better? Dont get me wrong its an interesting idea. Its seems better suited for law endorcement. They need constant supervision it seems.
But i feel this would turn into another way for coc to keep an eye on their own guys, and further hinder ground commanders ability to act. I fully believe commanders would try to turn situations into a real life version of Command and Conquer. ‘You go over there behind that rock, and you go right here in these bushes.’
And i mean keep an eye on their own guys as in guys getting yelled at while on patrol because they dont have their gloves on or took their eye pro off for a minute. Dont laugh it happened on my units last deployment. They flew the uav low enough that it could be heard and about 5 minutes later it gets called up that if so and so doesnt get their stuff on it was goin to be bad when they got back to the cop
First off, political reference is bonus points. C&C is fun, and yeah I could see that being a possibility for a removed command. It would be a drag, because Peacekeepers become expendable after a period of time.
Different views of this system include: increased teamwork, hindered teamwork, command micro-management, ‘technology is in right now and you can too!’.
If that degree of micromanagement would be counterproductive in a military operational environment; then how would it be beneficial for a law enforcement working environment?
I feel like most cops do the crooked shit they do and needlessly be douchefags because they arent held accountable and theres no way to do that because nobody is watching. I can almost guarantee that if each cop was outfitted with a camera that rolled from when they left their station until they got back they would change their tune dramatically. Less complaints of police brutality, unprofessionalism, etc
Whats more it would prevent unarmed civilians from getting shot…provided that the unarmed civilians hasnt assaulted the cop first and then pretended to give up in order to gain ground before he charged at him
But thats none of my business though

I think complaints of police brutality will occur regardless of any factor change.
Let’s flip that around:
“I feel like most servicemembers do the crooked shit they do and needlessly be douchefags because they arent held accountable and theres no way to do that because nobody is watching. I can almost guarantee that if each servicemember was outfitted with a camera that rolled from when they left their hooch until they got back they would change their tune dramatically. Less complaints of wacrimes, white socks, lack of PPE, etc
Whats more it would prevent unarmed civilians from getting shot…provided that the unarmed civilians hasnt ignored the EOF first and then pretended to obey in order to gain ground before he charged at the snap-VCP”
How does that sound to you?
Sounds like you just stepped on your dick.
Tell more?
This is a website for military guys. Don’t come in here bashing the troops.
So he writes a cop bashing post, I compare it to the plethora of military bashing posts out there as a means to demonstrate it’s ridiculousness; and that means I’m bashing the troops?
Did you miss the reference to white socks and not wearing PPE?
I chastised him for his ignorance. Now, it’s your turn.
Have you served in the military?
He won’t be answering. He thought that his retort was behind reproach. He found out it wasn’t.
Well…shit @.@
I was asking because i kind of feel like he has just as biased a view as i do when it comes to mil/le
I have alot of respect for what those guys do. I feel they serve in many of the same ways we do. Id like to let any leo’s who read any of this know i was speaking from having to experience unprofessional cops and wasnt trying to lump them altogether.
Lol even though thats exactly what i did
Yes, that’s why I questioned both of your comments. You came around, he didn’t. I’ve received a couple of tickets for things that weren’t even against the law myself. Sure, there are plenty of marginal cops, but they are people, and there are plenty of crappy people. I’m not going to blame them all because a few of them suck. I just hope that the good cops don’t think everyone they deal with are scumbags just because some people are.
Dude, that’s not cool. According to the Cato Institute, only about 1% of police officers are accused of excessive use of force. I agree that LE should wear cameras and be recorded. But as much for their protection as ours.
+1 Well said.
I hear you. I apologize to the legitimate police officers doing the right thing
Thanks
I keep thinking of the Helmet Cam setup from “Aliens”. Life imitating art.
LMAO!!!!
Last entry I made, we expected single BF, +1-15 month old. What we found AFTER we breached into a rain of rounds and muzzle flashes in a DW mobile home. Were two 300lb + lesbians that were armed up with multiple AK’s and .45’s and were ready for a lovers suicide. It would’ve been great to have better SA with a camera ball or other similar with a KOPIS system. But you all know how that is…
Both are now in prison. one is pissing and shitting in a bag…
