Yesterday, we gave you a sneak peek of the new X300U in Desert Tan. Now, we’re offering some shots of the light mated to a DG switch and mounted on a GLOCK 17.
This Ultra version of the X300 weapon light boasts 500 lumens focused by a Total internal Reflection lens. While you’ll find it generally mounted to a pistol, you will also see the X300 as a rifle light due to its compact size. When it is mounted this way, generally, it used with an XT07 Tape Switch.
The DG switch allows you to manipulate the light without removing a finger from your grip. Instead, there’s a pressure activated button.
The DG Switch makes the light much easier to manipulate but takes a little getting used to. You’ve really got to be cognizant of your grip so that you don’t have a light AD. There is a learning curve here and I recommend lots of dry presentation and dry holstering to train that middle finger.
This is a shot of the DG switch. It replaces the battery cover and snaps right into place. It features an O-ring for waterproofness. Look for about 1.5 hours of use with 2 CR123A batteries.
The X300 utilizes the Rail-Lock® system which you can see above. You pull down on the lever and slide the light into place on the rail. When you’ve got it where you want it, simply release the lever which is under spring tension.
Here you can see the High Threat Concealment Gen 3 Hooster which is set up to accommodate an X400 series Ultra light. The mounted X300U fits like a glove.
I’m told pre-orders should go up on the site very soon. The run of X300U in Desert Tan is limited to 500 pieces.

Background with scorpion w2..?
Correct.
I see that you said pre-orders will be up soon, but do you know if the only place this will be available is Surefire’s web store? Thanks.
They will be available to dealers as well.
DG switch… good man!
Why is this a limited production item? Scout and Millennium weapon lights are offered in black and tan. I don’t see why X-series lights should be different.
Companies can get a fairly good read on markets by doing boutique runs. This is a trial balloon. If these get snapped up, SureFire will meet the market.
Your customized sidearm is SICK!!!
Just now noticed the background, nice.
that pressure switch… sympathetic reflex much? jeezle pete…
Same thought here, I don’t really get it. Considering how easy the standard toggle is it seems like a solution just for those who love pressure switches.
Very super nice pistol though. And kudos to SSD for at least mentioning a need for lots of training to run a switch like that. Personally I wouldn’t run it…
Surefire has the most brutal toggle out there. I like Insight’s (though it is touchy) and InForce’s even more.
Until then, I prefer a DG with the requisite requirement for dry fire.
The DG switch has been around for a while and has been used by some pretty cool guys that doesn’t afraid of anything.
I use the Dev switch on my 226 with X300u because I find it to be comfortable and intuitive, freeing my trigger finger to finger the trigger. Like most things in this industry it’s a preference item. If you prefer it then it’s awesome; if you don’t then go find something you prefer!
It’s for lazy people that don’t like to have to think too much about activating their light.
I bought one not because I have dreams of being some kind of HSLD operator type, but because I played with one once (an instructor had one on a bluegun) and it seemed to be a product with genuine utility.
In other words, I’m lazy, and it seemed like a better way of activating my PML than a traditional toggle switch alone.
Hooster? Nice typo. 🙂
Feel free to delete this comment after you fix it. 🙂
It finishes your Glock off rather nicely!
I’m pretty sure the initial 500 will be snapped up very quickly.
Our Glock holsters molded for the Surefire X-series will accommodate the entire X-series of lights, from the older X-200’s all the way up to the new X-400 Ultras, all in the same holster. That same holster will also fit the compact and full size Glocks in .40 and below.
