SOF Studios (SOF) is a North Carolina-based indie games studio led by Tom, a retired Special Operations Veteran and David Sears, a world-renowned creative director. After the success of its Kickstarter campaign, SOFs is hard at work creating H-Hour: World’s Elite, a tactical, team-based, military shooter in development for PC and PlayStation 4. They are currently accepting applications for the full-time Lead Programmer position and part-time UI Designer.

Lead Programmer – SOF Studios Ltd

SOF Studios is now accepting applications for our Lead Programmer position to help in the development of our multiplayer shooter, H-Hour: World’s Elite.

Knowledge Requirements:
• Proficiency in C/C++, minimum of 5 years’ experience
• 3+ years’ experience in video game programming; multiple platform programming experience a bonus
• Unreal Engine experience a bonus
• Excellent debugging skills
• Practical experience with 3D math
• Experience with asset pipelines dealing with large scale data sets
• Excellent communication skills

Essential Job Functions:
• Report to the Creative Director
• Work co-operatively with the development and production teams to achieve the highest possible quality product
• Program features/systems for the game
• Oversee or integrate servers and the player ranking system
• Understand and direct the work of the coding team, including mentoring junior programmers

Demonstrated Ability To:
• Communicate effectively within a team of developers and focus on team goals and milestones
• Think critically, and apply analytical skills in resolving complex issues
• High personal standards as demonstrated in quality and pride of work
• Create complex systems from start to finish
• Quickly master tools and development processes
• Take direction and feedback in a positive manner and meet deadlines designated for team projects
• Self-motivate

Successful applicant will be expected to relocate to our development studio located in Southern Pines, North Carolina.

UI Designer – SOF Studios Ltd

SOF Studios is now accepting applications for our UI Designer position to help in the development of our multiplayer shooter, H-Hour: World’s Elite.

Knowledge Requirements:
• Proficiency in UI development, tools and software
• 2+ years professional user experience design practice
• Demonstrable experience in interaction design principles and tools (wireframes, layout, etc)
• Solid understanding of usability and heuristics
• Strong prototyping capabilities
• Unreal Engine and Scaleform experience a bonus
• Excellent communication skills

Essential Job Functions:
• Report to the Creative Director
• Work co-operatively with the development and production teams to achieve the highest possible quality product
• User Interface creation from mock up to implementation
• Design intuitive interfaces that enhance the player experience
• Create a modern update to a classic style multiplayer interface, including creating animated elements

Demonstrated Ability To:
• Communicate effectively within a team of developers and focus on team goals and milestones
• Think critically, and apply analytical skills in resolving complex issues
• High personal standards as demonstrated in quality and pride of work
• Quickly master tools and development processes
• Take direction and feedback in a positive manner and meet deadlines designated for team projects
• Self-motivate and deliver on time

Successful applicant will be offered a short term contract and have the option to work remotely.
