    Good question. I’m hoping the best for Michael. The Banshee is a great design.

      I found the banshee to be very boxy, and it somehow stays hot from the moment you put it on to when you take it off. I also bought my banshee when they produced multicam with coyote webbing, and with that amount of PALS real estate all over it the idea of camouflage was defeated unless you had the pouches to cover it up (Now I loaded that thing down), but that’s kind of an issue every company dealt with at one point. I guess my problem with the design would be how the front and back panels are basically the same except for a drag handle, which I personally wouldn’t trust if I really needed it, and the shoulder pads, which aren’t exactly shoulder pads per se require something inbetween them if you want actual padding, but that only makes it harder to adjust and it hangs down further. If you’re on a budget, it does a tremendous job and is reliable, but if you’re a professional (not in law enforcement, as it is LAPD approved) then it just won’t cut it. Of course I kind of jumped up a few notches when I got an MBAV, now that’s a carrier that needs an SSD post..

    This wouldn’t be the only distributor that they’ve had a problem with, in my personal experience I ordered a Tough Hook from Katylist, which Shellback provides the product to. For weeks I didn’t get it, and when I finally got fed up with waiting I was informed by Katylist that they had many shipping complaints, and told me to contact the company because it was implied they were quite sick of this happening, IIRC they were going to stop doing business with them. I tried to call Michael himself after failed attempts at customer service, got no response and eventually gave up. Bad numbers, bad business sorting. Wasted a good $20. I honestly think Shellback has been troubled for a while and really need these changes.

    This is why a company is not solely built upon product. A Great company must also master the logistical, customer and financial aspects of operations or it will go under no matter how good a product is.

    MDG never delivered on their promises to dealers. I worked for one of them when MDG came to us with Shellback, and we waited 6-8 months on our order before we canceled them. Calls to Scott Jefferson at MDG went unanswered for weeks and months at a time.

    They offered to make us a pouch with a 10 day turn around time on delivering a prototype. They lost our sample, then took over 3 months to get a crappy product out which wasn’t even close in dimension to our spec.

    Michael got suckered into partnering with a manufacturer who never delivered on their promises. Hopefully the truth will come out and he can save his brand name from the beating it’s been taking over the past year or so.

    He had a proven design that was turning heads and selling well, then MDG screwed it all up on him.
