Almost a blast from the the 1990 past?

    • SSD says:

almost, but this one is polishable.

I have some of the desert tan boots that I wear for SWAT. They are very comfortable and provide a lot of cusion. There is no real ankle support. They are really like a tall athletic shoe. They are very comfortable though!

I have fond memories of the Assault Addidas 😉

Ankle support is a misnomer.. Support for the ankle comes from having a solid and wide foundation… not from having a rigid ankled boot. If support for your ankle came from a rigid boot that didn’t allow your ankle to turn, you’d likely see a load of tib/fib fractures out there… which you don’t.

Extreme example would be a women’s spike heeled shoe… The higher the ankle and heel is from the ground, the more likely the ankle is to turn. It’s why old school jungle boots didn’t do well on road marches. The heel was very tall and had a stiff edge that could catch on every crack in the road but the boot was the cat’s ass in the woods..

    I’m not an Oakley employee..

Good info there. I loved my jungle boots. Once issued them, that was all I wore. The Oakleys sort of remind me of them. The uppers on the Oakley boots, the tan ones are very flexible, like the uppers on jungle boots.

I still have an original pair of these in my gear box. Other than the very slippery soles I absolutely love the fit of the originals……still one of my favorite shoes!!

I love my oakley boots. I have had some desert assault boots for four years now and I have never had a problem, no blisters or anything from these boots. I am waiting for Oakley to make them in coyote tan before I buy a new pair though.

I rock the black ones at work daily. Love how light and comfortable they are. My prtner on the other hand seems to have the strange ability to rip the seams open on these, the regular assault boot, Rocky, and Under Armor boots in just a few weeks. He is basically the hulk though.

Glad to see that someone is listening. The soles on my Nike SFBs have started to peel off after just a year of use. There are a lot of good “HSLD” boot options out there, but few that offer a Polishable material. These wil be my next purchase unless someone else steps up to the plate.

    I’m looking at you Salomon.
