Spuhr AB Makes Mount For FBI HRT T-2s

This is the mount selected by the FBI’s Hostage Rescue Team for use with the Aimpoint T-2 optic. The mount comes in four different heights, 22mm, 30mm, 39mm and 42mm.  Additionally, it incorporates the Spuhr interfaces on one side, so the user can hang a laser or something else, directly on to the mount.

It seem weird to me that’s the FBI would use Spuhr instead of someone like LaRue. Spuhr makes good stuff, do not get me wrong, but I would rather my tax money go to an American company.

Boy, have I got news to you w/r/t the nationality of Aimpoint.

      • Kango says:

        lol

      • Doc K says:

He has a point. There is no American made equal to the Aimpoint. Mounts for the Aimpoint Micro family is an entirely different story. It seems like there has to be something that drove the decision to get Spuhr mounts. My suspicion is cost. You can’t seriously tell me that anyone intends to hang lights or lasers off their optic’s mount. Rail-estate is so easy to come by they’ll just use a scoutlight and peq bex.

Where do you get a Spuhr T1 mount (145€ on their site) for less than a Larue ($100 on their site)? Sorry to break it to you but sometimes foreign products are better. This is like asking why police departments buy European pursuit cars.

          • Matt says:

First, I am positive LaRue Tacticle (or any other USA mfg) could provide just as good, if not better, mount at the same or lower cost. Second, we have no clue what the FBI (tax payer in reality) paid for these mounts. Pricing on a website means nothing.

            • SSD says:

It’s lower than what you see on the site.

            • Timothy says:

If you’re just blindly guessing that an American manuf. can do better for less than anyone else in the world that’s idiocy. Without knowing what the spuhr mount is like, it would be ridiculous to claim Larue can “provide just as good, if not better, mount at the same or lower cost.” Seeing as Larue hasn’t really evolved their T1 mounts in years and keeping in mind their dubious engineering decisions on their existing line I don’t agree.

              • Matt says:

Biased much? I could care less wether it is LaRue or some other USA mfg. As long as a USA business benefits from the deal everything would be cool.

        • Matt says:

I agree with you. Ultimately, while Spuhr is a superb mfg, I am disappointed in the fact that more of our tax money is going to a non USA based entity. Unfortunately, this is all to common. Look at Pfizer and their so called “merge.”

          • Airborne_fister says:

My mom works for Pfizer. They moved to save 10% on taxes. In my book that’s ok. And I’m a hard core right wing guy. But then again I’m a little bias to the situation.

      • Matt says:

I understand, but there is no American made optic that can compete with the Aimpoint. I believe we should use the best product available for our soldiers, but if there is an American made product that is just as good as a foreign made product then the American product should be purchased.

Larue would be at the bottom of my list of mounts, American or not, most companies designs have far surpassed them.

    • JC says:

HRT is measured in dozens, not hundreds or thousands. So what? They bout the mount they wanted.

  2. martin nielsen says:

Spuhr or Bobro would seem fitting. Rock solid stuff.

  3. Todd says:

Did they go with thumbscrews or not on this mount?

  4. Ron says:

Is HRT still running HK 416s?
What height Sphur mount are they running?

  5. RP says:

Mark Larue is an idiot…that alone prevents me from buying anything from them!
