2016 Arc’teryx LEAF Leaks

We weren’t going to be able to show you the 2016 Arc’teryx LEAF product line until SHOT Show but two things happened.

Right before Christmas an international distributor leaked the 2016 LEAF catalog. Then, at the New Year, Arc’teryx itself loaded the 2016 line unto their PRO website.

Cold weather and Mountain is what Arc’teryx does best and you won’t be disappointed as they introduce several new products with some great features.

All-in-all, the new stuff is in the standard LEAF color palette of Crocodile, Wolf Grey, Black and MultiCam. But, you’ll see Ranger Green pop up on a few additional items like the Naga Hoody and Atom LT.

LEAF CW Features 2016

For 2016, you’ll see a Cold WX Jacket LT, Cold WX Hoody LT and Pant versions with Coreloft insulation and Gore Windstopper shell.

There’s also a heavier Cold WX Jacket SV with Climashield Thematek insulation and Gore Windstopper shell.

LEAF Cold WX Jacket SV

The Jacket is paired with the Cold WX Pant SV.

There are also several new glove models and a heavy variant of the popular Balaclava from last year, except that it’s not FR but rather strictly for cold weather use. Featuring Gore Windstopper, this is the Cold WX Balaclava SV.

On a different note, the Assault Coverall AR was designed for European customers but may be of interest to US users as well, as there is also an FR variant.

LEAF Assault Coverall AR

This is my favorite piece from the new line. Arc’teryx LEAF has finally introduced a range pant. With it, Arc’teryx also introduces two nonstandard colors to LEAF; Greenstone and Terra. They are offered in waist sizes 30-38 waist in regular length (32″) and tall (35″).

Xfunctional Pant AR features

The Xfunctional has a great set of features and is made from a durable 50% Nylon 50% Cotton blend.

Finally, to wrap it all up, they are introducing a 40l version of the Drypack.

LEAF 40L Dry Pack

Many will like the more compact size and new PALS compatible grid for pouches.

    My wallet’s crying.

  2. Chechen says:

Fantastic stuff. Sadly you gotta put out a second mortgage just to purchase anything…

    • SSD says:

First off? Register as a PRO user. Second? Shop sales. Third? Tryouts are twice a year. But seriously, I use the first two options extensively.

      • Adrian says:

        ^lol well played.

      • Yawnz says:

Wonder when they’ll sell to Reserve/Guard units.

        • SSD says:

          I don’t understand the comment.

          • Hodge175 says:

I am in the PA guard now and I wear what I can afford from the dead bird, but I use my own funds and the LEAF Program

          • Yawnz says:

I assumed that they didn’t sell to anyone who was part of a Reserve or Guard unit (and not falling under one of the other eligible organizations) because of the eligibility notice specifying “active duty”.

Can you post the link to the 2016 catalog prematurely released?

Also, the Xfunctional pants will be offered in the two colors shown, and not in croc/wolf/black?

    • SSD says:

I’ll post the catalog during SHOT Show unless Arc authorizes a sooner release. The new pants are only in those colors, at least for this year.

  4. t1tan says:

Very interested in the details on the gloves, been waiting to buy the FR over Black Friday/Xmas but they were out of stock everywhere. Buying whatever the put out.

  5. lcpl1066 says:

It would be nice if there was a knee pad/insert option for the range pants.

  6. Jon, OPT says:

That pack is kick ass, great new line up!

  7. Dan says:

I’ve had the Fusion jacket and pant for 3 seasons, it works great paired with the Alpha jacket and pants.

Any idea if the Cold WX jacket SV would be a warmer replacement for the Fusion & Alpha combo?

Arc’teryx makes amazingly functional and hard wearing gear, their warranty backs up the product.

    • St says:

It has the twice the insulation as the fusion (same amount of thermatek as well as the additional climashield). The normal colours will have gore wind stopper (highly water resistant) while the multi cam will be gortex but won’t be water proof due to gore’s requirements for water proof garments. Also highly water resistant.

Similar insulation value as the dally belay from the outdoor line.

      Hope that helps.

      • Dan says:

        It certainly does, thanks!

I’ve been hoping Arc’teryx would come out with a severe cold weather jacket, this is great

  8. Bill says:

Finally, pants that don’t look like the wearer has a pocket fetish, and are available in non-hobbit inseams.

  9. Bruce says:

Any plans to offer WX jackets without Velcro? Wish the would start putting side zips and snaps on uniform jackets to accommodate holster on duty belts.

What about cold bala in black?

  10. Bradkak308 says:

What do you mean by a range pant? Just a generic ref to a tactical type that isn’t field or assault specific? Just didn’t know if it was an industry ref or your own generalization. Some others I’ve seen given that title were a bit pocket crazy.
Is is nice a low key pant, some other colour options would be nice.
    Happy New Year.

  11. Bruce says:

No belt loops on Cold WX Pant SV?

Would love to see these companies making MIL/LE rain and cold weather pants with belt loops. Are you suppose to wear your holster on a belt and pants underneath these? Seems poorly thought out.

    • SSD says:

      Gun belt dude…over your jacket.

      • Bruce says:

Disclaimer: I understand that they are focused right now on MIL. Domestic LE use does not lend to running a battle belt over these.

Just sayin it would be nice to see them focus on the LE portion of LEAF at some point.

  12. bob says:

Its good to see even Arc’ get the pattern direction wrong when making stuff (drybag). Theyre not GODS after all…

  13. jess says:

Anyone remember those poncho’s everyone was asking for them to sell after they made a bunch for the homeless that one time?

Wallet is still ready and waiting….

  14. jay says:

Is there any indication that the drypack will be released in any other colors?

  15. Winston says:

Those Xfunctional Pants look pretty sweet.
