Developed in conjunction with former Navy SEAL Dom Raso, the Roper from Line of Fire is an over glove for Fast Rope insertions. The Roper fits over your standard assault gloves for the insertion phase and are easily removed, leaving your assault gloves in place, so that you don’t have to stop and change handwear.
The Roper is optimized for use with other LoF gloves as the palm is lined with the grippy TEGS material. When a LoF globe with TEGS palm is slipped into the Roper, it offers an excellent grip. Naturally, the TEGS lined palm will enhance use with other gloves as well. Below, Dom goes over the Roper’s features.

So, turns out I won’t have to sell my soul for a pair of Crye fast rope gloves?
Crye pattern is very easy to copycat, for personal use, of course. http://cs631417.vk.me/v631417819/123a5/so5Nr-AY-TM.jpg
Yeah, I used a pair of Wiley X gloves, once and only once, to rappel.
Great idea. Only issued I’d see are possibly with doffing the gloves quickly which can be solved by adding another 550 loop or a “teeth grab” tab towards the fingers so you can yank them off faster.
LoF’s Roper, paired with a Light Duty glove = shoot on the move towards cover! You can either wear two sets of cheap gloves and have no ability to return fire once you’re off the rope, or pull your TF out of the elastic and fire! Southeastern DoD units are already using them! Others are still wearing huge welding gloves over cheap non-berry gloves they continue to buy over and over again!
Plus that video shows an older version with the elastic across all the fingers. Current versions do not cover the trigger finger (AAR comments from active duty members in Colorado, Georgia, and NC)!
