SSD friend Jon C ran across these TOR Ultra Hi WP in Oxford Tan from Hoka One One at Riverjacks in Southern Pines, near Fort Bragg. I’d seen them before at outdoor shops but they had this crazy flame paintjob which sent me running. The brand didn’t present itself as “tactical” so these were quite a surprise.
The TOR ULtra Hi WP incorprates this ultra thick Vibram MegaGrip outsole rubber combines with a midsole blend of EVA and RMAT material. Their design utilizes the Meta-Rocker geometry in the midsole which they say encourage forward movement. The upper is leather and nylon with eVent waterproofing.
Here’s a shot of the tread.
The boot is also offered in Black as well as civilian color schemes.

Just recently came across the Hoka brand at my local REI, I’ll definitely be picking up a pair of these.
Any clue as to a Coyote release?
I was surprised to see this color.
You can purchase them now from the Hoka One One website.
The sand, yes… Not Coyote. I’ll contact and formally request Coyote. Lets hope they are more receptive than Lowa was. I asked them back in the summer and they said they hadn’t decided, because “We don’t know the proper color scheme or if it was even worth it…”
Lowa came out with coyote boots, I handled them at SHOT Show and I believe SSD posted pictures.
The Uplander though?
Yup…sorry, reading is fundamental!
I missed that Article… Darn life getting in the way of the interwebs…
I have been running Hokas for over 2 years, I love em, these look great too
are they even remotely worth the $240 price point?
Unfortunately, $240 is no longer a market-defined “threshold of pain” price point, especially for niche colorway (sheeple shoes gotta have color somewhere).
What’s sizing like? true to size?
Surprised to see this. Wonder how long it’ll last.
Have fun rolling your ankle on rough terrain in these jacked-up things.
That was the first thing I thought of too. Granted, I’ve never tried on any of these types though.
Yeah I’m imagining the vertically-challenged seeing these as a solution–presuming that’s the midsole, and not just a high outsole.
Actually the stack height (height of your foot off the ground) on most Hokas aren’t that much higher than regular shoes. While the midsole looks high your foot actually sits much lower within the midsole (think sidewalls).

I’ve got 450 miles in Hoka Challenger ATRs and 327 in my Tor Mids. Zero ankle problems. There’s a reason many ultra distance racers are wearing these shoes and boots. Just because you don’t understand a product, does not automatically make it “jacked up”.
I’ve been in Hoka running shoes for several months now. I have not had any issues with rolling my ankle or similar and I have had that problem in the past. I ordered a pair in black for uniform use. Once the rain stops stops, I will be able to see how they hold up on asphalt & in rural farm land during 12 hour shifts.
This was first time in a while that a SSD post has led right to a purchase – I mist be getting old.
Wow. I have not seen footwear with eVent for years now.
They are available on promotive well below the $240 price point.
Tell us more…
HOKA is on promotive, but I did not see this model.
Just checked these out today. They look and feel great. They fit true to size and are super comfy. Price wise, I heard the Bragg PX has them at a lower price and also accepts MFG coupon.
Wait, wait. Are these 670-1 compliant?
