im a righty, I put pistol mags bullet forward (facing my rifle, so that when I reload them my finger is indexing them to the magwell). I put rifle bullets backwards due to how I grab my mags and conduct my magchanges…
On the day I wuz leavin home, my Dady sat me down and said, “son, there are three kinds of people in this world, those who count, and those who can’t”.
I have to ask. Who sets and enforces these bullet “rules”?
Shouldn’t “bullet orientation” depend on where the magazine is mounted on the body, what type of pouch / retention system is being used and personal ergonomics and preferences?
And shouldn’t an individual experiment and figure out what works best for themselves? If it works it isn’t stupid. right?
What about those of us who like it both ways? Or neither? That being said SSD’s dichotomy did not specify whether this involves reloading AR or AK mags, for those of us who swing both ways…
I think this thread should be shut down. It’s not politically correct to make one choose a magazine orientation. I would hope SSD would want to remain magazine orientation neutral so as not to create a hostile environment that offends others. This only creates social anxiety in which operators are forced to seek out safe areas in which they can fully explore there true magazine orientation without prejudice..
I thought it was a “spectrum”. I like it both ways.
Laces out!
NICE!
Beer can grip!
Pistol mags = bullets forwards
Rifle mags = bullets backwards
Pistol mags – MUST be bullets forward
Rifle mags – either works. I prefer bullets forward.
My opinion.
Bullets forward.
Forward? Back? Bullets to the right (I’m a lefty).
Same here.

Bullets towards weapon…rifle or pistol
Depends on the placement of the pouch because that determines how I grab the magazine.
Yes.
This song came to mind….

Doesn’t matter in the least for rifle mags. What matters is where you carry them and how mobile your arm is.
The fact some people still beer can their reloads scares me
How do you hold your rifle mags?
What?
These political debates are so polarizing.
I’ve seen it both ways, at the same time.
This was obviously posted by those who prefer battle belts…..
LOL. Rigger pants belt FTW!

Pistol mags- Forward
Rifle mag on belt- Backwars
Rifle mags on vest/pate carrier- Forwards
Yes
All,
I have to ask. Who sets and enforces these bullet “rules”?

So are there really only two types of people?
And why do “beer can” reloads scare contractor?
TLB
Pistol mags: Bullets fwd (indexed)
Rifle mags: Bullets backward (beer can)
I have small hands so while I can comfortably index pistol mags I can’t grip rifle mags confidentlly the same way, so I use the “beer can” grip.
I was born a bullets forward dude, but I self identify as bullets backward.
Haaaa Haaaa. Good to see you identify correctly.
What about those of us who like it both ways? Or neither? That being said SSD’s dichotomy did not specify whether this involves reloading AR or AK mags, for those of us who swing both ways…

Obama doesn’t discriminate against orientation!
