Danner QC has really gone down hill, and their customer service seems to be in rather poor as well. Another company that has let their products slip in the quest for greater income. Such a shame.
That’s cool that they hired some of the old Lugz designers that have been unemployed for a while.
Well, the website has a cool Columbia River Gorge photo, but…$430 for a pair of light boots?..I’ll have to think about it.
Yup, that price tag hurts. The upside is that the boots last pretty much forever. From Fall to spring I cycle among 4 pair of Danners, to include a pair of Go Devils purchased in 1984 (recrafted twice), a pair of Acadias purchased in 1996 (never recrafted), a pair of Desert Acadias worn over 2 winters in the Hindu Kush (recrafted due to the damage that volcanic rock does) and a pair of ICHs that seem to be impervious to everything.
I think Danner may be one of the last large-ish brands on the planet using materials that that don’t degrade after 2 years…
Yes, I still have my 1986 “Go Devils” (never recrafted, but a big blob of Shoe-Goo keeps them waterproof-ish), and a pair of 1989 “Acadias” with a leather patch repairing a concertina snag at the top cuff). Definitely got my money’s worth from Danner – they served well through the first 30% of my career until black boots went away.
Oops: Meant first 60%…anyway, good boots! 🙂
Moon Boots!
Are these “real” hiking boots, or are they “life-style” boots?
