MilSpec Monkey is now offering their Hoodie Raw in MSM Grey, an ‘urban grey’ color developed after extensive research made by Monkey himself. MSM Grey looks green when compared to more “cool” greys, such as Wolf Grey, but matches well with urban concrete colors.

Make a version without the silly velcro and I might consider.
It is a lot easier to have them come with it, you can always remove the loop velcro stitching without harming the core hoodie. One can use tiny scissors or get a seam ripper for about $2 at the sewing section of most grocery stores.
The other way around of adding loop after is not so easy…
Yes monk, but then someone might have to use their imagination and do it themselves…
Very interesting!
It really does look green when compared to the other ‘greys’
In regards to the velcro patch, this is a complaint that seems to be made quite a lot so perhaps manufacturers should supply the patch with the jacket/top and if so required the owner can have it stitched on.
I recently purchased a top from the UA Tactical range and that’s what they have done, it seems like a good compromise.
Good colour. Good idea re Velcro. Cheaper to insert a couple Velcro panels in the kangaroo pocket then to sew them on. Cutting it off quite often does a little damage or the stitching does.
Monkey put a huge amount of work in developing MSM Grey. One of his hoodies is a future purchase. We need to support innovators.
I’m really glad to see that his efforts in this area have come to fruition. Ordered mine.
Great price, especially for made in the US.
Way to go MSM! That is an amazing color.
It’s a great color. Though the photos make it look marketed to stalkers and home invasion dirtbags. Maybe change that. Otherwise it’s another fine product from MSM and I appreciate all the research that went into its development.
^^^^
Those aren’t for marketing, they’re the pictures Monkey used to develop and refine the colorway.

I wish a lot of other manufacturers would document, test and refine their product so well.
50 shades Monkey! Good on ya for observing what really works and making it happen. Color is similar to Alpha Green, which blends well in rocky and urban settings. I don’t like Wolf Grey at all for concealment purposes. It’s a descent fashion color though!
Count me in, my old raw hoodie is rather threadbare
I do think I will remove the velcro on this one
My sources state he was never spotted peeping while wearing MSM Grey. Birthday suit grey was also tested and resulted in 3 arrests and 16 complaints. J/K
I agree with the latest poster. My first thought was that the photos look more like an advertisement for a security system or in promotion of conceal carry. Not sure I’d go with them in that setting… maybe choose something more industrial for the same effect?
As for the colors, I like them. Are you wearing the same colors in the frontal photo as the neighborhood creeper photos? Thanks.
Ehe fair enough I’ll try and do some out in the city type pics; what I have so far was to just show the color next to some intended material environments.
Yep same hoodie in all pics, kinda shows how much grey can vary in photos!
Not sure I would have picked those photos either. Color is good. The posters named Ken and Chris seem to know how much work went into researching the colors… are you folks industry insiders, employees, shills, or did I miss the paragraph describing the extensive research?
You missed the hyperlinked text that literally says “extensive research.”
Reading is hard…
It’s really easy to miss since it’s a different color text than the entire rest of the statement and it doesn’t specifically say “Extensive research.” You know, little things like that that would really make it jump out at the average reader.
Monkey spends some time facing walls and lying face down – Smacks arc’teryx’ colour selection team in the butt.
Very much looking forward to seeing this in the flesh.
$44. That might actually be reasonably priced. MSM hasn’t gotten the memo about overinflating the price of “tacticool” gear ?
Far the most natural, warm grey color I’ve ever seen on tactical garment. Hard to determine by just one picture but I think this is the most ideal grey tone in urban environments. Kudos for MSM. Monkey, you just discovered the true tactical grey!
I’m proud of MSM for the arduous task he undertook to identify a practical real-world Urban Grey, and I will purchase this garment.
However, comparing his effort to the Army’s untested-prior-to-issue mottled blue/grey/white “Universal” (Urban) camouflage just makes me sad.
I agree i will be voting with my money, MSM knocks it out of the park again
