ADS Federal Range Day – C2i Advanced Technologies

C2i Advanced Technologies exhibited their Remote Aiming System – Rifle. Essentially, it places a see through camera in a weapon’s optic. This allows the reticle to be viewed remotely, whether by the Soldier via a monocle, or an arm mounted screen. This means the shooter can remain behind cover, only exposing the weapon to enemy fire and still effectively engage threats.

Furthermore, the image can be viewed by others. In the case of marksmanship training, this is a great capability.

I’ve seen this movie before. Run Mark Wahlberg!

    • Mark can run, but he can’t hide…whether in CQB or at ACOG 4X ranges, this kit works. It started as a streamlined version of CornerShot, but we have gone further. Surveil, share your aim image with team mates, and soon, share the view on the battle map. Just sayin…

Wasn’t this part of the Future Force/Land Warrior program? But it used to a huge computerized digital optic that was almost as big as the rifle itself. Nice to see that they managed to get it to be this small and compatible with conventional optics

Awesome concept, but honestly I’d expect a higher quality video from a company selling camera equipment.

Hopefully this is just test footage, with something higher quality to come.

Reminds me of the STS low profile nightvision gear, they had a system that integrated a gun mounted camera for similar effect.

Two things if this winds up being decent.
    1. Return of vertical foregrips, along with methods to use them for recoil control in awkward positions( like Kyle Lamb’ s brokeback prone).
    2. Additional accessories developed to help recoil control in positions as they come into use.

    • Thanks for the suggestions, James. We have LaRue foregrips and Noveski K9 barricade blocks to do what you correctly observe:Learn to brace forward to get second shot repeat really fast. It does take practice. But these two accessories get it done.
Also, most who have helped us with live fire T&E have learned to use the collapsing stock to their advantage when engaging with the butt at the elbow bend.
Try it. It’s been a real experience developing it. And thanks for commenting!

  8. RAS-R is available for just about any weapon optic. The kit is small, light, lasts 4+hours on a battery change, and can stay on your rifle and your Plate carrier along with the other kit that never moves, like ammo and such. It doesn’t interfere with normal ops and habits. When you need it, you can light it up in seconds.
Viet Nam was my era. But combat is combat, and being able to work your battlefield with cover as an active tool instead of a “hide” is pretty important.
Some have suggested that this is a load that has only limited utility, under special circumstances. If that were the case, we’d never have bothered. But really, I look at it this way: You have your weapon? Then you’re prepared to handle a gun battle. Handling a gun fight is really using every tool you can to survive, while doing your best to end your threat. Honestly, RAS-R is a tool that will without a doubt improve your odds. Justt sayin!
