These days, helmets are soo light, is there a need for skull crushers? Even for hot environments, will this be any cooler due to contact?
Skull crushers still have a valid place in long range greenside R&S where one might be wearing his NODs for 6 hours straight on infil and not wanting to wear a bulbous helmet in hide-site or have to worry about finding a place in or on his ruck for his helmet to go during daylight hours. Not many people probably necessitate the need for skullcrushers, but those who do damn sure want something better than the old halo.
