SOMSA 19 – SAM Chest Seal

We all know the SAM Splint but they also manufacture other medical devices like this chest seal.

The chest seal adheres via Hydrogel and integrates a rigid, raised-dome valve to ensure one-way airflow from the chest cavity, no matter the pressure applied. Large side vents minimize internal obstruction from blood clots or soft tissue.

Got a chance to examine these at the TX State EMS Conference last November. Really nice products. Three varieties at three very competitive price points.

I’ve got a bunch of these and they seem super nice. Just so guys seeing this know – each package comes with a non-vented and vented seal – the non vented to be used on the downside and vented on the top side. Also the vented works great if you had to perform a finger thoracotomy.
