OZ9 Standard (Full Size) Pistol Owner,
We want to thank you for being a ZEV owner—specifically an owner of our OZ9 pistol. This pistol has turned out to be an amazing success since its launch in February, and we hope that you’ve had the opportunity to spend some good range time with it.
ZEV Technologies strives for perfection and has experienced very low warranty repair instances with the OZ9. However, we’ve had a limited number of OZ9 Standard pistol owners report occasional discharge of more than one round with a single trigger pull.
This has been a difficult issue to diagnose given the low incidence of these reports, our difficulty in replicating the issue and the fact that most of the reported incidents happened only after several thousand rounds had been fired. However, after exhaustive research we discovered the cause to be a particular tool used by our vendor that wore in such a way that it produced small variations when stamping one of the OZ9 trigger components. Of course, we have corrected this issue.
While we believe that only a small number of pistols within specific serial number ranges may have been affected, we want to make sure that every potentially impacted OZ9 is performing at its highest level. Therefore, we are happy to inspect your pistol and replace the trigger at no cost to you.
Please see the instructions below to determine if your pistol is subject to the trigger replacement program.
ZEV maintains high standards, and we strive to exceed your expectations. But equally important, we also want you to be thrilled by how we value and treat you as a ZEV owner. We will always stand behind our products.
Sincerely,
Matt Ridenour
CEO, ZEV

ZEV is a total shitshow. I wouldnt buy their products if they would be competitively priced. I want my guns to run reliably, they have proven that they cant deliver a reliable product.
There is a reason no one uses these gucci glocks or pimped out firearms in any serious capacity. No amount of paid youtube reviewers is going to fix that.
Oh well, at least I know now which ones not to trust, ever.
I understand where you’re coming from to a degree but saying nobody runs their stuff just isn’t true. Their trigger is standard issue equipment in the pistols of a highly respected unit of our military. This situation sucks for sure, not much I can say to defend trigger issues from a company that primarily makes triggers, but they’re putting it out there and trying to correct it and that’s something. They’re good folk there and they do actually give a damn about their products and customers besides just wanting their shit to look rad. I hope they get this corrected in short order and get on track and keep knocking out products.
@svgc thank you for the support, as we push innovation we hit a bump in the road and we understand the gravity of the situation. We want to ensure all of our products are able to be used reliably and safely. This is why we are offering this program at no cost to anyone but us and are being as transparent about the issue as possible.
SVGC thank you for the support. We continue to stand behind any and all Zev products and anyone who has a concern or needs to double check to see if they are part of the recall, please call customer service so we can take care of you as soon as possible.
The sad thing is, this isn’t the first time it’s happened. I’ve seen a runaway Zev drop-in before and there have been numerous discussions around various forums about this.
I’m not sure what their way forward is, but a robust QA/QC check with a test fixture should definitely be in the works.
Currently we’re tightening tooling tolerances for stamping trigger bars on this particular issue. Trigger issues had by others we can’t speak to as there are multiple factors as incompatible tolerances between our products and other vendors products, triggers being adjusted out spec and so forth. But without having those guns in front of us for verification this is just speculation. In any case We stand behind our products and if you or anyone you know is having an issue of any kind they should absolutely get in contact with customer service so we can get the problem solved.
