  1. Don’t quite get it says:

I’m afraid I don’t quite get the concept, but if it looks like a glowing peep sight I’m interested. Looking forward to more information.

So … when you get a absolutely straight line of sight to take the shot, you don’t see the front sight post? Because the rear sight obscures it.

    • Pete says:

Nah, they function rear sight only. You center the dot in the circle for sight picture. The new Sig P365 SAS is using a different version of this recessed into the slide for a super low profile setup. I’m not really sure why the picture includes a front sight at all. The Meprolight product page linked in the article doesn’t show one with the product. Maybe the front sight is for rapid front sight only use instead of the actual sight being sold here. I don’t know. Maybe it’s in the picture by mistake. The bottom line is that this rear sight doesn’t use a front sight at all.

Thanks, Pete. I do remember seeing the SIG version of the rear sight without the front site. I guess with this system here, as you are getting your sight picture and you see two dots (the rear and the front above it) you immediately know that you are aiming too high, and have to tilt the pistol down. So that could be an additional benefit. With the version that SIG uses, you have to tilt the pistol until the rear dot is a full circle, without any additional context of a front sight post, or green dot.

Be aware this is just a very approximative way of aiming.

For fast not precise shooting just your knowledge of where your pistol point is sufficient. Most of the aiming is shooting position for such type of accuracy.

  4. Bradkaf308 says:

I wonder is this would work as a CQB BUIS mounted onto an optic.

This is a re-release of these sights. I saw these years ago when MAKO Group came and did a range demo. I didn’t care for them then.
