SIG Range Day 20 – Tread 716 DI

SIG has introduced a Direct Impingement version of their 716 rifle in .308 to the Tread line.

It is very similar to the SIG rifle selected by the Indian Army last year.

One notable exception is the lack of a bayonet adapter on the rail.

It includes a Adjustable Magpul SLK Stock, Free-Floating M-LOK Handguard, 16” Precision Barrel and Ambidextrous Controls.

Naw. This is 2020. The correct response is “*yawn.*”
Seriously though. It’s an AR10 that’s 16”… the controls aren’t *fully* ambi and Sig’s selector switches suck (yes, I’ve actually used them. They’re the same on my virtus.)

Give me a 7.62 virtus with swappable 6.5 barrels for a reasonable price and we’ll have something to talk about.

This is 2020….6.5 is *yawn*. None of my AR’s are ambi controls which I appreciate as I’m not ambidextrous, don’t let friends or strangers fingerbang my trigger holes and don’t care what others feel they need (even ambi controls are only manipulated by a finger from either the right or left hand, not both). Swapping barrels is like swapping wives…not worth it when you add the costs up. Sig selectors sucking is on Sig though. I’d rather have a 16” 7.62 AR than an 18+” 7.62….and for that point -16”>16”+ 7.62 be damned. Why? Because a Sandman L hanging off 16 plus inches sucks. 2020 and all.

What one places an emphasis on is not always emphasized by others not affected by it.
