The Department of Defense has announced:

Work locations and funding will be determined with each order, with an estimated completion date of Jan. 30, 2025. U.S. Army Contracting Command, New Jersey, is the contracting activity (W15QKN-20-D-0006).
Maybe Colt can start manufacturing something the military wants, like toasters.
Good thing they stopped selling rifles on the civilian market… Colt is trash, zero innovation, just keep on re-releasing old products. They reap what they’ve sown.
I don’t own anything from Colt newer than 1990ish and it seems those were the last of the glory days for them. It is sad what they’ve become.
So, are there any American military small arms manufactured by an American company? HK, FN, SIG, are all US subsidiaries of foreign companies. WTH??
Don’t forget Glock and Beretta.
But yeah, welcome to a global economy as well as the fact that those companies also do business with allies.
I see what you did there. Approve. Keep preaching.
Because American companies are either stuck in prehistoric dogmas of thought or completely unremarkable. HK, FN, Etc all have the coin to pay engineers and the leadership to drive innovation. When your company is led by mainly former brass its not going to end well.
Lowest bidder and all that.
FN got this contract cause they underbid everyone else. The M4 is made to a certain spec, no matter who makes it.
Also lol at the prehistoric dogmas. LMT is dominating the euro market when they are allowed to enter.
I’m not sure why this would come as a surprise to anyone. FN has been supplying the U.S. military with weapon systems for decades. They built the majority of the M16A2s, many of M16A4s, all the SAWs, M240Bs, etc. From my experience they build a high quality product.
Why bother, thought we were on to the new hotness NGSW.
Because we’ll need new carbines for decades.
Dang your right about foreign owed companies only thing could think was at least a few precision rifles are American companies like Barrett and Remington?
