This jacket is packed with features but the real story is in the fabric. Their AirLoft technology combines Toray’s new 3DeFX+ hollow-core, 360-degree stretch insulation with Primeflex 4-way stretch, weather-resistant exterior fabric.
The creators tout it as temperature regulating, breathable, stain-proof, water resistant, durable, packable, and versatile. Here, they compare it to other popular insulation pieces.
Now crowdfunding on Kickstarter in Black, Olive and Blue Gray, with a planned delivery in Spring 2021.
Looks like the Arc’Teryx Adahy which I love and have a couple of. Looks thinner but nice design.
My first thought was “nano air,” so i’m pretty impressed they took the comparison head on. The patagonia tuff puff might be a closer comparison in retrospect since it is tougher and more windproof, as well as a bit cleaner look. Saying the alpha direct isn’t warm when wet seems like an arbitrary claim, but its hard to take a marketing check list to literally anyway.
Kuiu uses those materials to make similar jackets. If you want to try it before funding, check Kuiu, you’ll be a believer.
