SIG SAUER - Never Settle

Massif Strato Low Loft Jacket

Massif has introduced their first low-loft thermal layer. It was designed deliver the proper insulation to keep the wearer warm yet offer enough breathability to avoid overheating.

It’s also a great option for those who want something that looks more professional than the traditional Level 3 fleece jacket.

The Massif Strato is fully reversible with OCP on one side and black on the other side. This feature can come in handy for use by those who need to distinguish themselves from others within an organization such as graders or cadre. Additionally, it can be used as another form of camouflage, blending into different environments.

When not in use, the Strato can be easily stuffed into its chest pocket or clipped to your kit.

Features:

• Reversible OCP to Black.
• Insulated hand pockets on the OCP side, accessible from either side
• Chest pocket on the solid side
• Packable – chest pocket doubles as a stuff sack with clip loop
• Lightweight, self-healing #3 zippers on hand and chest pockets
• Elastic hem, cuff and hood opening
• Articulated elbows
• Dropped tail
• Snag-resistant CF zipper flap
• Durable Water Repellent (DWR)
• .965 lb / 15.45 oz

I’ve had one for a few weeks and although it’s getting warm out, I’ve been able to wear it a bit. It’s comfortable a true to size.

  1. Now that’s a jacket I could get behind.

Any FR / no melt type properties? A lot of similar jackets don’t like campfires.

    • SSD says:

No, if you need FR, Massif has been offering FR solutions for decades.

MASSIF makes the best FR gear. It’s what they do. If you have some time to search check out the 782 Gear “Smoking Jacket”. It’s a low loft jacket like this, hoodless, and FR. It has been my go to for this type of jacket for years and it’s a tragedy (for a number of reasons) that they no longer exist.

I’m positive I’ve seen reversible concepts, in loft and waterproof gear, on display at various trade shows by the Gore-Tex people. Great idea!

Is it possible to hide/pack the hood?
