SilencerCo’s “American Gun” Campaign Reveals Diversity of American Gun Owners

July 14, 2021 — West Valley City, UT — SilencerCo is excited to launch “American Gun,” a series of videos featuring vastly different kinds of gun owners around America that will illustrate the commonality of firearms among people from all walks of life. The first video, “American Gun: The Realtor,” will be released, July 14th, 2021, with a series of videos to follow on a monthly basis.

In the premier video, JoAnna, a single mother and real estate professional from North Carolina, tells SilencerCo why she carries concealed. As the youngest of 28 kids, she is the first entrepreneur and first girl in her family to own a gun. When a wave of rape incidents started occurring with real estate agents in her area, JoAnna decided it was time to learn how to protect herself.

“Feeling the power that you have in your hand and what you can do with it is going to make you more of who you already are,” said JoAnna. “It’s not a weapon against someone, it’s protection for myself.”

In a time when conversations surrounding firearms are very contentious, SilencerCo has taken it upon themselves to illustrate the true story of the American gun owner. “American Gun” is an intimate look at the foundation of American Freedom, focusing on the right to bear arms and the vast diversity of people that exists among those who support the second amendment across this country.

Each video in the American Gun series will showcase a different perspective from an individual who uses firearms in their daily lives. In order to force more authenticity and leave less room for error, SilencerCo used only film for the still shots included in this project.

“Still photography in the modern day has become synonymous with deception, digital manipulations meant to appear grander than reality,” said Jace LeRoy, Photographer and Media Director at SilencerCo. “American Gun is all about the truthful depiction of the typical gun owner in America and capturing their images on film will give the audience a closer look into their lives in a way they are not used to seeing.”

These videos will be featured on SilencerCo’s YouTube channel and social media platforms. They are meant to be shared and re-shared, sparking an honest conversation surrounding firearms.

The first people impacted by poorly thought out and executed Gun control policies are historically often some of the most vulnerable members of society.

I’m glad this project seeks to elevate the many different types of owners and most importantly their STORIES. We are a storytelling species, not Robots who simply act on data. I often see staunch 2A advocates lean heavily on cold, contextless numbers and righteous, insular vernacular. That is often an instant show-stopper for people we might otherwise be able to sway.

Stories, a diverse mix of stories that illustrate/cut across race, gender, sexual orientation class, and professions make for a more persuasive approach in my opinion. When more people realize that even those around them might be quietly, responsibly carrying stories like these could make them think twice at least before supporting certain policies as they are. It’s much better than simply saying “2A” over and over. IF this reaches the intended audiences it could have some positive impact. I hope readers here watch, ponder the stories that differ from their own, and share with the people in their lives who are skeptical of the Pro-2A principle/position (be patient!).

Seconded on who poorly thought out gun legislation effects…case in point, San Jose California’s Mayor Sam Liccardo’s plan to add fees for every firearm owned and make gun owners carry liability insurance to “offset” costs by “gun violence.” So, again, those living in lower socioeconomic circles have another potential hurdle to overcome to lawfully protect themselves and their loved ones. If this is enacted, hopefully the first court that this matter comes to shoots it down faster than the stampede to the TV section of a Walmart on black Friday.

Reminds me somewhat of “The Armed Citizen” section of the National Rifleman magazine. Way to go SilencerCo! Keep’em coming! Self defense is the ultimate act of individualism and liberty, that is why the statist will have none of it.

“Self defense is the ultimate act of individualism and liberty”

That’s a t-shirt worthy motto if I have ever seen one. Well said.

Good to see a rare island of intelligent and hopefully balanced discourse that rises above the woke-bait 2A stuff we usually see. Below the waterline i suspect there’s a huge group of pragmatic owners and carriers not represented by the foaming-at-mouth crowd who can win this argument over the control freaks in government. Real people who can really use real guns equals liberty from oppression.

“As the youngest of 28 kids” I have so many questions :O

    Dan,

This is Eric the owner of SSD. I read your diatribe but it won’t be shared. My wife is black and I have biracial children, some of whom serve this nation and their communities in a variety of fields. They are all gun owners. They all know that guns help protect them from oppression, including from people like you.

I appreciate you feeling comfortable sharing your racist viewpoint, it reminds me that racists exist regardless of political beliefs. Far from woke, I will oppose your skin color-based obsession at every turn. Your point of view has no place here.

    Eric

Well penned response. More level-headed than Dan likely deserved. thanks for not letting trash post indiscriminately.

    • Lcpl0420 says:

Sorry you had to confront that Eric.

    • Joe says:

Thank you for the content of your character.

    • Sasquatch says:

Did Dan’s comment get deleted? I don’t see what this is in response to. Either way, I think I can guess. Sorry you had/have to deal with shit like that, and thank you for your well worded response.

I was waiting to see the worms come out of the woodwork on this one, but it’s good to see their ideology and toxic dogma has no place here.

    • Brando says:

“Ah oh, a person of color in an SSD article, I bet there are a lot of comments. Yep, not surprised.”

      Handled well, Eric.

      • Sasquatch says:

I read the article, and didn’t give it a second thought. I figured there might be one, or possibly two comments. Looked down and saw 9 comments and just figured “we’ll, shit. Here we go with the racists.” Luckily, other than one comment which wasn’t even posted, I was pleasantly surprised.

      Very well said.
