Clandestine Media Group’s New Gun Truck – The Specs

What started out as a 2021 Ford Ranger Lariat has now become one impressive gun truck thanks to the efforts of Clandestine Media Group.

Right up front you’ll note that it’s a Ford Ranger which might seem like an odd choice for a gun truck. CMG acknowledges this and explains that it’s nigh impossible to get an actual Toyota Hi-Lux in the US. Instead, they went for a Ford Ranger which is becoming more popular with foreign SOF.

    Sweet looking ride

This is incredibly awesome; I want one. (Also love the Kifaru.)

    • Iggy says:

Seriously, impossible to get a Hi-lux in the US?

      • mike says:

        that’s not exactly a secret?

        • Iggy says:

So yeah seems I need updating. Not long back private imports were easing off but looks like it went nowhere. Bummer, as the Japan side is overflowing with the things. I thought some were getting through, but apparently not enough to see any.

          • Jeff S says:

They need to meet the 25 year old rule to be imported for regular use. There might be newer Hi-Lux in the US for special purposes, but not for use by commoners.

Nice build. In the second picture it looks like the weapon is pointed at the roof of the vehicle – potentially at the front seat occupants. Might just be the angle of the picture, but I wonder if there is some sort of bump-stop to prevent the muzzle from depressing to the point that it’s aiming through the roof at the passengers?

Why not just go with a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited? They come from the factory already configured for off-roading and they seat four + gear comfortably.

    • BS says:

Guys definitely wanted to replicate guntruck aka technical. Haven’t seen Wrangler-based ones around. Hilux/Ranger are most common pick-up trucks on this side of Big Pond.

Friends don’t let friends buy Chrysler Group products.

Certainly, if you want to build something that is even remotely battlefield capable, you should never start with a Jeep. They break down while grocery getting.
