SHOT Show 22 – Spiritus Systems

Spiritus Systems has introduced a new laser cut pouch flap which facilitates its use with a wide variety of odd shaped items.

Here you can see how the edges of magazines catch on the flap of the Spud pouch, keeping them from moving around.

They’ve found a second function. It also serves to break up the outline of pouches, aiding in camouflage.

  1. Probably might as well do leaf shapes on the exterior at that point, but pretty cool idea to get some dual purpose out of.

    Now that’s something original.

Perhaps take the stealth aspect further and reduce noise and increase reliability with a tuck tab instead of Velcro.

The designer of this thing is probably ze German, because he found solution to the problem that don’t exist

For the life of me I can’t remember the name of this type of pattern, but if you break open your high-end backpack shoulder harness or hipbelt you’ll see the same pattern there; because it works in the sense that it mechanically can stretch and shrink to fit tons of shapes.

Unsure if I think it’s useful for typical gear pouches, but it looks very cool.

I think it’s referred to as an auxetic pattern. in this case a tri-star. Agreed – novel concept that results in a “neat” aesthetic.

Wait, what?? Have april fool’s day been moved earlier this year?

  7. Tideman says:

Is a flap with that many apertures still useful for protecting the mags from dust and debris ?

    • paul says:

Fred said that if you’re worried about dirt and debris you’re in the wrong business and you need to be a good soldier and clean your gear after you use it…so here’s some extra holes for you to clean lol

  8. Bryan says:

I’d like just the pouch flaps to retro-fit my other pouches.
